Isn't it too late for a third-party run to do much damage?

Or rather that the crowd was filled with a greater percentage of establishment types than usual.

Not going to happen because he'll be the nominee.

Woohoo! I've already made a few bucks riding irrational swings in the Predictit market on Trump running 3rd party. Hopefully those dumb-dumbs make this into another yes bubble.

If he is mocked in future debates, or loses any states, he could release his delegates and could run as a third party. It could destroy the Republican Party for a long time.

He could always run as a write-in candidate. He would get at least 35%-40% of the vote in that scenario.

He'll win the nomination so this is moot. And neither the establishment nor the handful of true small government supporters in the GOP will have the guts to run a third party candidate against him.

He won NH by 20. He's leading SC polls by 20. He's leading national polls by 20. He's threatening to run 3rd party. One thing Trump is right about is how boring the race would be without him.

You know that's not true. If you don't then you just haven't been paying attention to the last few months.

I still maintain that the Iowa loss was largely because of Cruz running a great operation on the ground in Iowa, not because of any misfire from the Trump. See? I can praise other candidates.

Yeah but I fail to see how going to the left of Cindy Sheehan to attack a man with 80% favorability rating among republicans helps him, especially when it becomes a 2 or 3 man race

This is a good idea since it assures a President Clinton (I assume that Cruz would be the GOP nominee in this scenario).Go for it, Trump.

Unless the Trump campaign started internal polling recently, I doubt Trump knows that as a fact.  As far as I know, the Trump campaign hasn't hired an internal pollster and isn't polling anywhere.

He wouldn't win any states in this scenario and would only get 10%-20% of the vote.

At this point, I am pretty sure Trump would love a president Clinton, and if he loses the nomination, he may run third party anyway to ensure Republican defeat by drawing away votes using all of the Republican voters he tricked into believing that he actually supports the positions that he preaches.

He might have information on internal polls to at least from what I have heard from friends ( I know I sound a lot like Marty lol) show the race within the margin of error

Trump used to have 80% unfavorable rating in the Republican Party. Someone's image can change very quickly. Plus this isn't a new accusation - Trump waged it earlier and it was largely a draw, if not a net benefit for Trump.

I'm starting to think he actually WANTS to run third party. I doubt even Trump has so little self awareness that he didn't think sounding like Dennis Kucinich on a GOP debate stage was going to hurt him.

This is such weird signaling from a clear national frontrunner in a primary.

He's hitting Cruz just about as hard as he was in Iowa.  He knows this race is loseable.  I bet his internal polls show a very close race.
