1/2. Bush/Kasich (still undecided)

My first choice of the two main parties was Rand Paul (of course), and my second, once upon a time, was probably Lincoln Chafee. Not even joking.

Nowadays, my first and second choices do not come in the Republican or Democratic parties. And they don't need to--the GOP doesn't need me to win Georgia, and if they do, they've probably lost the general election.

Voting only really matters that much in swing states. And even then it's basically the same thing either way--kind of like choosing between driving off a cliff in a Chevy or a Ford. Statist A vs. Statist B. Ick!

Category 1 - Would vote for in a general:

Gary Johnson
Steve Kerbel
Marc Feldman
Austin Petersen
Darryl W. Perry

(Probably in that order, FYI. The rest is probably out of order.)

Category 2 - Could reluctantly vote for:

Jesse Ventura
John McAfee
[Other Libertarian Candidates]

Ted Cruz
Ben Carson
John Kasich

Bernie Sanders

Category 3 - Would never vote for:

Jeb! Bush
Marco Rubio
Jim Gilmore

Michael Bloomberg
Jim Webb

Category 4 - So bad they might compel me to vote for a Category 2 person:

Donald Trump

Hillary Clinton

I really think I have to admit:

1. Hillary
2. Kasich

3. Bernie
4. Jeb!

5. Cruz
6. Rubio

7. Trump

I forgot to rate Carson because he put me to sleep.

Hillary
Kasich
Bush

I don't think I could support any of the other candidates still in the race. I find myself rooting for Trump on the Republican side only because the party needs to be exposed for what it is, and it's an interesting combination of sad and hilarious. I could never actually vote for him though (assuming I could vote in American elections at all, that is Tongue).

Kasich and Bush would be tolerable, but they have some serious, serious weaknesses as candidates.

My first choice is Hillary of course. Although I like Bernie a lot and have tremendous respect for his campaign, but my second choice is John Kasich. Bernie actually fits my views better than the OH-Governor, but I have serious doubts that he would get much done (even with a Dem congress). Kasich is a proven leader with experience in politics and business, a moderate who reaches out to all people and to Dems, he’s always positive and seems to be honest, not an agitator. He’s really presidential.

Only going to list the eight major-party candidates:

1. Clinton
2. Sanders
3. Kasich
4. Bush
5. Rubio
6. Carson
7. Trump
8. Cruz

I may still go back to Sanders, though. I've been vacillating about that for the past month or so.

I have decided that there's too much at stake to support a democrat but I have no idea what would happen if Trump wins.

1. Sanders
2. Clinton
I will be voting for Sanders, but if Hillary is the nominee, I would still enthusiastically vote for her.

I would never vote GOP, especially considering either Bernie or Hillary will be the Dem nominee. But to continue the list, if I were forced to vote GOP...

3. Kasich
4. Bush
5. Rubio
6. write in a Republican who is not actually running
7. Carson

8. Cruz.

9. Trump.

Primaries

First Choice: Ted Cruz
Second Choice: Bernie Sanders

General

First Choice: Ted Cruz (unlikely he'll be nominee, but if so, I will heavily consider it and think about the pros and cons of voting him over the libertarians for a while)
Second (likely) Choice: Libertarian Nominee

I'm an independent who voted for Dubya in 04 and McCain in 08, and I am backing Hillary and Bernie.

Trump and the state of the GOP has turned me into a Dem voter.

I'm an Independent in fact, but a registered Republican who voted for Kerry in 2004 and Obama in 2012, so here are my choices:

1.  Donald Trump.  On trade policy and foreign policy, he's the one I most agree with.

2.  Hillary Clinton.  A distant second, but better than the rest.

The rest of the current field is sad.  Ted Cruz is the best of the rest, but Draft Uncle Pat pointed out that Cruz is, at a personal level, a scumbag, and I don't doubt this.  He's better than the rest because he's not a neocon.  I would vote for him to block Jeb! and Rubio if it came to that.  Kasich makes SOME sense, but he also seems detached, and I'm not sure that he's not a neocon on foreign policy.  Sanders's concern for the middle class and the concentration of wealth is legitimate, but I cannot bring myself to vote for a "democratic socialist" (except against Rubio or Jeb!).

There is, however, no one worse than Jeb! and Rubio.  These are your World War III candidates.  Jeb! is preoccupied with revising his brother's legacy so future generations of Bushies can also become President and perpetuate Bush Family interests from the seat of power.  Rubio is like the young Richard Nixon; always in a hurry, no real concern for anything but his own advancement, and eager to talk tough without appreciation for the consequences of using force.  (Winston Churchill once said that "Jaw, jaw, jaw, is better than War, War, War.  Rubio just doesn't get that.)

In 1980 I abstained from voting for President, while voting straight Democratic otherwise.  I've voted Republican for President twice, Democratic every other time (since 1976).  This could be the year I vote for a third party candidate for President for the first time.
