Obama is an excellent example of winning with little energy, just one piece of oration and done.  The whole point of Obama and the Democratic strategy is waiting for the GOP to high-energy themselves out of control and hope people see the insanity, and that's why midterms keep being lost.

Didn't Harding literally run a deliberately pro-low energy campaign (return to normalcy)?  I mean, sure, his private life was high energy ... but as a politician, I'm not so sure.  Also, Dukakis over Bush??

Dude come on man, Al Bore was a nickname for a reason. John Kerry was a snooze machine as well compared to the folksy Bush. I guess 1976 would be a tossup between Ford and Carter in that department. Reagan was extremely high energy in 1980 though, remember the ''I AM PAYING FOR THIS MICROPHONE, MR GREEN!''  moment ? Carter was pretty dour and sullen and fit the malaise of the late 1970's imo.

Ah, but Harding was at least advocating for something like "normalcy", Cox couldn't even figure out how to stand on his own.

I'm not sure about FDR in 1944....he was dying of heart disease at that point...he did rally in the last weeks of the campaign though and made that famous 'Fala' quip.
