Great that he is running.  Makes Republicans spend money and gives us good wave insurance.

Hey, at least he's an elected official. Here in Utah, we can't even manage that for statewide races.

Though considering he's in the same state Kim Davis was in, he'll need a lot of luck.

I was really hoping Kim Davis would remain a Democrat and run against Rand Paul just to see 1) Atlas react in disgust and 2) see her be absolutely demolished. Tongue

Gray is actually pretty conservative on economic matters. Reason Magazine gave his announcement a positive writeup (and Rand Paul is their favorite politician). If the Libertarian Party was a serious, big-tent party, both Gray and Paul could fit. Should be interesting to see how they position themselves against each other. I wonder if Gray will try to be the war hawk in the race.

If he won, that would be epic.

"The country's second-ever openly gay Senator, Jim Gray from Kentucky of all places!"

I'd like to see a Senator Gray. Maybe Curtis will run for the GOP Primary.

I'm just imagining the juvenile insults: "Senator Gray is a Senator GAY", and ridiculously dumb jokes like that.

Former Frankfort City Commissioner, farmer and filmmaker Sellus Wilder is also running for the Democratic nomination for the U.S Senate.

Sellus Wilder on his Facebook page:

Thanks to the support of 62 pioneering donors yesterday, I'll be on ballot in Kentucky for the United States Senate in May.
I'm looking forward to having a conversation about ways we can bring new opportunities to the regions of our Commonwealth that have been devastated by the inevitable decline of the coal industry. I'm ready to challenge an economy that has been rigged to favor corporate profits over the lives of everyday Americans. I'm eager to make a case for the value of protecting our watersheds and ensuring a safe and bright future for our children. I'm not afraid to challenge a military budget that supports billionaire private contractors at the expense of the everyday soldiers and veterans who dedicate their lives to our nation.
We have a good slate of candidates on the Democratic side, any one of whom would do a better job than our freshman Senator. Kentucky deserves better than Rand Paul, who has cynically used his status to boost his national profile, sell books, and mount a failed presidential bid rather than trying to improve the lives of Kentuckians.
I'll have a website up soon that will include my platform, and that will transparently and openly address many of the policy questions that you all have for me. I deeply appreciate your support, and I'll look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!

The Democratic primary has 7 candidates.

Even the Republican primary has 3 candidates including ol' Rand.

I could win Elliott County if someone handed me the nomination and I had a D next to my name.

Let's see what happens in November with nearly one year of Matt Bevin as governor and Barack Obama no longer on the ballot.

I don't think an openly gay candidate can win it.
