We've had three 2 term presidents in a row.  Are we going to be electing our 4th double termer this November or are we going to be welcoming in President 46 on January 20, 2021?

If Hillary or Sanders are elected, they may die in office.

I'm pretty sure the next president will be a one-termer, unless Trump is the Republican nominee, which might have a devastating impact on the party's chances in 2020 as well.

It depends a lot on when the next economic downturn starts.

If the economy collapses before the upcoming election, President Trump's reelection campaign will depend mostly on how he handled the crisis.

If the economy collapses in the next president's first term, its very likely they'll be a one term president.

If the economy doesn't collapse until after 2020, then there's a very good chance we'll get another 2 term president.

Clinton will probably do such a great job in her first four years that the country will want to give her four more. I can't wait.

Clinton will win and she will probably be reelected. If I were to place a bet I would place it on her for two terms.

I agree, it will either be 1 term or 2 terms most likely.

It depends a lot on when the next economic downturn starts.

A mild downturn in the economy at the start of the next term would actually help reelection chances, tho it might play havoc with the midterms.

A mild downturn in the economy at the start of the next term would actually help reelection chances, tho it might play havoc with the midterms.

That's a good point.  Historically, a recession hitting in 2017/early 2018 would be the best possible timing for Hillary/Democrats.  If it happens in year 1, it will be forgotten by year 4 short of a 1929/2008 level event.

It won't be forgotten, but remembered as something that went well during that president's watch, moreso than if there had been steady growth all four years.

I truly believe Trump would be a one term president if he was elected, he'd lose reelection. As for the rest of the candidates, it's way too early to tell. I think a lot of it will have to do with the state of the economy at the time of the 2020 election, and how the next president deals with foreign policy (particularly ISIS).

Unless there is a recession or a smoking gun in Benghazi, Clinton will duplicate her electoral vote narrow margin victory in 2020. Due to the fact the Senate map again favors Dems. I am not cetain by this, but it zhould happen.

If Hillary or Sanders are elected, they may die in office.

Trump might also.

I think it's too early to predict. Till 2020 a lot can happen.

Btw: Does anyone think Trump would run for reelection?

My gut is that whoever wins this election will lose the next one.
