There was a PPP poll a while back, and they asked whether Obama was born in Kenya, and most Republicans said yes. They then asked if Cruz was born in Canada, and most Republicans said no.

Trump has done a masterful job of informing people that Cruz was born in Canada, and then having them draw the false conclusion that he is therefore ineligible.
