The collapse of the traditional left in Atlasia has been really amazing.

It'll probably resurrect itself sometime in the near future, but seeing where it was 4 months ago to now, hard to believe.

The left was at its apex 8 months ago. From September to October they controlled the Senate and JFK approved their radical legislation in exchange for the energy bill to pass. PBrunsel was our Ronald Reagan, ending the leftists dominance.

Only one piece of radical legislation, besides the energy bill ended the huge energy crisis didn't it?

It was some birth control think if I remember.  And the enrgy bill along with attempts to calm the public ended the energy crisis.  Today, oil and gasoline prices are lower in Atlasia than in our parrallel real world.

Gabu, Siege, Ilikeverin, or Akno.  All are great potential candidates, and would have a shot at winning come election day.  But no protest candidates, I don't want to vote for someone and then suddenly have no idea about what's going on again Smiley.

But, dare I say it, is it neccessary to nominate a leftist?  All of the other candidates would make fine presidents, and if no one really wants to run from our side of the spectrum, then there is no need to desparately pressure someone into running, like last time.

Akno would be a great candidate? If you want someone else to win, I'd agree with you but I doubt that those are your intentions.

Akno is a fine candidate with experience and likeability.  Yes, like Harry, he has some scandals in his past.  But, unlike Harry, I don't think the scandal has permanently stigmatized Akno to the same degree.  And even with his scandals, look at how close Harry came to winning the Presidential election last time around.  Akno would make a fine candidate and a fine President, with or without the aura that surrounds IrishDem.

I personally would not vote for Akno in this race.  His scandal still ruins his reputation to this day.

Give the poor guy a break.  You're making it sound like he can never hold elected office again.  So he lied?  Big deal, it's not like he killed a guy.  Plus, I'm not a big fan of effectively banning people from fantasy government because they made a mistake.

Edit: except maybe Naso.

While I have stood to be drafted, I wouldn't mind some hearty leftist competition for the FLP and ILP cominations.

I thought you were serious until I reread your post Smiley

While I would vote for Harry, I can't trust Akno all that much anymore. Harry didn't lie about the people he brought being his friends, Akno tried to cover things that were wrong up.

Akno never lied about bringing his friends. What he lied about was the whole GirlGoneWild situation. And this wasn't lying once or twice either. Then, knowing that he was fooling the voters, he tried to run for Senate.

To this day I still don't see how that makes him "Atlasia's biggest crook", though - bigger than, you know, the guy who actually perpetrated what he simply lied about?

Flyers tried to pull that one trick and he is no doubt near the number one spot in terms of being a crook. With Akno, I just have a feeling he's had schemes in the past that he tried to use. It wouldn't surprise me if he came up with the idea to create another account. He was the campaign manager.
