Frist never had a chance at the nomination. In the general, he could beat a far-left extremist like Evan Bayh, but not many other people.

Evan Bayh - 'far left extremist' eh?

Are you being deadly serious? Are are you just tagging ludicrous labels in an attempt to put Bayh down because he's the Democratic candidate the GOP fears most?

Well the current list of democratic nominees that can beat Frist has now grown.

While centrists and the democrats say its a victory for America. Bill First has said in a released statement that there are good things but also bad things. So he positioned in the Dobson, Robertson and Falwell camp.

Frist has a better chance of getting the nomination now but democrats will eat him for breakfast. the list of people that can beat him or make it competitive IF they win the nomination is now;

Hillary Clinton - charisma, personality - frists wishes if he had a genie.
Russ Feingold - a progressive but one of the few senators who has a strong backbone and he will clean up the midwest that the Republicans so need. and he will put Florida in play.
Mark Warner- Virginians just seem to be charming.
Evan Bayh - he can be very conservative and the liberals will still vote for him as they will portray Frist as being abit of a nut.
Ed Rendell - outside chance but he is pretty affable and again would hurt Frist with men.
Bill Richardson - would pick up the hispanic votes and put states like Florida into play.

need i go on...

I love how some Democrats are like "haha Frist is screwed because he lost the nuclear option" etc. Meanwhile, that means they did the GOP a favor.

I think so.  I don't believe he ever really had a chance.  Forbes had a better chance in 2008.  Smiley

No, Frist would win about 54-45, carrying about 44 states.

I nominate this for stupidest post award

You were reigning champion, you know. Why give it up?

I think he is. As Pat Buchanan said on Hardball yesterday, (oh my god, im quoting pat buchanan. Never thought i'd see the day) "Frist let these Rep. senators go off and sign this deal despite the fact that he had enough votes to pass the Nuclear Option. That shows a huge lack of leadership, and thatt may come back to haunt him."
