I think that, in this scenario, the American people would come together to vote against the candidate who is an obvious danger to the integrity of our democratic institutions.  Demogoguery can only get you so far, and eventually America will wake up to the fact that they're being sold snake oil by a man dead set on destroying the constitutional foundations of this country.

TRUMP would destroy Sanders.

Maps? Also, if Sanders gets the nomination, how will you handle your general election vote? lol

Sanders isn't a "fighter" like Trump. He'd get buried in the onslaught of insults. Can you imagine the debates? Trump would just call him a Communist (which would stick on a self described socialist) and use subtle anti-semitism to destroy Sanders.

The Democratic establishment will deal with a Sanders nomination better than the Republican establishment will deal with a Trump nomination. Romney runs 3rd party and wins a few states, but mainly just splits all of the Republican states enough for Sanders to win them with a majority.

Anyone who thinks Sanders would win really doesn't understand America, sorry folks. Maybe Sanders could beat someone like Jeb, but not TRUMP. He's just too weak and too nice to do it.

I played around with the numbers and came up with what I thought would be a realistic result:

DC is a tossup, but I think there are enough white liberals there to put Sanders over the top.  Vermont could go either way, too, considering the large crowds that TRUMP has been getting in the Green Mountain State.  PA, though, is probably safe Dem.  Way too inelastic.

And yeah, I'd be a solid TRUMP voter in this scenario.

Bernie Sanders: 332 EV's, 46%-47% PV
Donald Trump: 206 EV's, 43%-44% PV
Third Parties: 0 EV's, 10% PV

In a Trump vs Clinton election, most would vote for one or the other (so third party candidates wouldn't do so well). In a Trump vs Sanders election,  many would vote third party. I could a see a third party candidate such as Bloomberg earning around 8% of the vote, and all the other TPers would get 2%

States like Colorado and Iowa are incredibly close thanks to the thrid party candidates. Sanders BARELY wins them. Trump could win them tho.

No third party candidates:

Bernie Sanders: 51% PV, 272 EV's
Donald Trump: 49%, 266 EV's

Sanders BARELY defeats Trump

I feel like it'd be the opposite, RR1997. Far more people are anti-Clinton than anti-Sanders, so I feel like third parties would get a higher vote if Trump were against Clinton than if Trump were against Sanders.

Trump would win. I think Sanders runs better against an establishment candidate that he can portray as bought by big business.

However if both are anti establishment candidates i think they would go for the one that's not a fear mongering racist. Trumps only chance in the general is against Clinton an establishment figure where he can't paint himself as one of the people. Even Donald knows Clinton will be easier to beat.

Sanders of course. Let's be real, Trump is never going to win a presidential election and probably would fare worse against Sanders than Clinton. His outsider shtick is better suited against an establishment-type candidate, and the vast majority of Democrats would rally around Sanders just as the vast majority would rally around Clinton. However, Trump would have a much harder time gathering such unity among Republicans. Name calling may help Trump win the nomination, but he's never ever ever becoming President.

Donald Trump 301 (49%)
Bernie Sanders 237 (47%)
Other (4%)

Narrow Trump win. Let's be realistic, Bernie is not winning swing states like Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Virginia etc. Pennsylvania could go either way though.

Against Trump, yes he would. Maybe he'd hold on to one of Maine's congressional districts (I forget which is the more liberal one).

Sanders narrowly wins with the 272 map in the most bitterly polarized election in history. Most independents and moderates stay home.

Moderates, yes. I could see independent turn out be relatively high.

Not sure, it would be very close; but in terms of memes produced this race would be at critical levels of dankness.
