I can join in support of a holiday recess, maybe December 20 until January 7, or a similar timespan; provided the speaker would finally give a vote on my bill

I would back this too, and yes, the speaker must give a vote on the Socialist Leader's bill. The wait has been ridiculous and for him to call an immediate session to elect the president.
