Holy crap. Statewide offices change parties all the time. Dems please stop acting like it's the end of the world. Not every state votes 100% for one party all the time. Try again harder in four years.

Bevin isn't someone who deserves "congratulations."

Yes he is

Why is that little dot to the west part of Fulton County?

Interesting story

I will say, the last time it looked like doom for the Democrats forever in Kentucky, Ernie Fletcher turned out to be a huge disaster, so much so that Steve Beshear won by a huge 18 point margin. I suspect Matt Bevin won't be an Ernie Fletcher level disaster, but Bevin could be pretty brutal. And Kentucky Democrats won't think about running Jack Conway again.

If Andy Beshear wins his race, I think he's definitely the go to candidate.

Before you start writing Conway off, remember that Cucinelli was beating McAuliffe for most of the night in Virginia two years ago.

This is true. Ernie Fletcher won the Governor's seat and that didn't turn out so well.

KY doesn't have the huge republican counting bias that VA does.

Democrats need to do better with white Southern voters. A lot of people think that they are priding too much on a multicultural coalition, which is good, but you can't forget white voters either.

Harmon is beating Edelen, Andy Beshear's lead is narrow as all hell, Grimes may be the only one who survives.

Why is that little dot to the west part of Fulton County?

Because part of the county is across the Mississippi River from the rest.  The river bends, Missouri is across it, the river bends again, and the western part of the county points upward from Tennessee.

Congratulations, Governor Bevin!!  I look forward to seeing what you can do in our neighbors to the north!
HA!  The race isn't even called yet and there's a ton of outstanding vote left.

It's not the end of the world for the Democrats, and I'm sure that they could pull off a win in 2019 or 2023 under better circumstances but....

The climate in this election was about as good as the Democrats could've expected.  I think the only thing that could've been better for the KY Democrats here would've been Obama not being President.

I think this is a pretty clear indication that Kentucky, and the rest of the White South/Appalachia are slowly turning on the Democrats.

The difference is that this is a re-alignment, not a purple state oscillating.
