You seem to place a high degree of importance on being a part of "progress" or "enlightened" politics (this is not an insult at all and does not insinuate you don't vote your ideology), so I could see you stomaching voting for some pro-business policies (read: Republicans) in the past because you couldn't stomach supporting a party with such a strong Dixiecrat presence.  I'm also assuming zero hindsight.  Here's my best guess:

2012: Barack Obama
2008: Barack Obama
2004: John Kerry
2000: Al Gore
1996: Bill Clinton
1992: Bill Clinton
1988: Michael Dukakis
1984: Walter Mondale
1980: Jimmy Carter
1976: Gerald Ford
1972: George McGovern
1968: Hubert Humphrey
1964: Lyndon Johnson
1960: John F. Kennedy
1956: Dwight Eisenhower
1952: Adlai Stevenson
1948: Harry Truman
1944: Franklin D. Roosevelt
1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt
1936: Franklin D. Roosevelt
1932: Franklin D. Roosevelt
1928: Al Smith
1924: Robert LaFollette
1920: Warren Harding
1916: Woodrow Wilson
1912: Woodrow Wilson
1908: William Taft
1904: Teddy Roosevelt
1900: William McKinley
1896: William McKinley
1892: Grover Cleveland
1888: Grover Cleveland
1884: Grover Cleveland
1880: James A. Garfield
1876: Samuel Tilden
1872: Ulysses S. Grant
1868: Ulysses S. Grant
1864: Abraham Lincoln
1860: Abraham Lincoln

I'll also stop there.  Correct away!  LOL.

I'm only going back to like early 20th at best.

2012-  Willard
2008-  McCain
2004-  Dubya
2000-  Dubya
1996-  Dole
1992-  Bush
1988-  Bush
1984-  Reagan
1980-  Reagan
1976-  Ford
1972-  Nixon
1968-  Nixon
1964-  Johnson
1960-  Nixon
1956-  Ike (definitely more FOR Ike than against Stevenson)
1952-  Ike
1948-  Dewey
1944-  Dewey
1940-  Willkie
1936-  FDR
1932-  FDR
1928-  HOOVER!
1924-  Coolidge
1920-  Harding

I think GOP in nearly all cases except during Democratic landslides like '32, '36, and '64.  But you would've been a relatively early defection back to the GOP by 1940.  I thought you might vote Kennedy over Nixon in '60 but I think you're like a protestant suburbanite self identified moderate Republican from Illinois which places you in the Nixon camp.

2012-  Obama
2008-  Obama
2004-  Kerry
2000-  Gore
1996-  Clinton
1992-  Clinton
1988-  Dukakis
1984-  Mondale
1980-  Carter
1976-  Carter
1972-  McGovern
1968-  Humphrey
1964-  Johnson
1960-  Kennedy
1956-  Ike
1952-  Stevenson
1948-  Truman
1944-  FDR
1940-  FDR
1936-  FDR
1932-  FDR
1928-  Smith
1924-  LaFollette
1920-  Debs

I don't really remember anything ideologically weird about the poster above me. So I'm guessing just generic Democrat voting habits, voting for the official nominee every year except 1956 (because why not?), 1924 (Mid west progressive), and 1920 (cus the Democrat kind of sucked).

Mostly I just want someone to do me.

A socially moderate, fiscally moderate-to-conservative Republican, hm...

2012: Mitt Romney
2008: John McCain
2004: George W. Bush (without hindsight, like all others; could be close)
2000: George W. Bush
1996: Bob Dole (would be close though)
1992: Ross Perot
1988: George H.W. Bush
1984: Ronald Reagan
1980: Ronald Reagan
1976: Jimmy Carter
1972: Richard Nixon
1968: Richard Nixon
1964: Barry Goldwater
1960: JFK (would be close)
1956: Ike
1952: Ike
1948: Thomas R. Dewey
1944: FDR
1940: FDR
1936: FDR
1932: Herbert Hoover
1928: Herbert Hoover
1924: Calvin Coolidge
1920: Warren G. Harding

Let me know if this is a bit right Smiley

Tip for me: I am more loyal to Jews than to GOP candidates.

TBH, while I might be a moderate socially, I'm very conservative/libertarian on economics. I likely also would've gone straight Republican since 1856 except in 1904 and maybe 1876, 1884, 1888, and 1892.

Wouldn't have voted for Nixon and certainly not for FDR, at least not in 1940 and 1944. But otherwise this seems good, I definitely like JFK and (to a lesser degree) Clinton and Truman. I probably would have voted for Clinton in 1992 (I don't like Bush 41) and for Dole in 1996, though.
