Because museums are lumped in with theatre and arts, disagree. I think there are things that really do need to survive on their own merits, and opera or theatre would be one.

However, I do think that science, natural history, and museums in that context should be supported because those things contribute to knowledge. I also support PBS, e.g.

Agree, provided they have the means.  It should not be above (several) other priorities.

This is one that I can't really decide upon. I'm in equipoise. It is largely a subsidy to the gentry, and their offspring (means testing in reverse), but then, one does not live by bread alone. It certainly is one that I hugely benefit from, and thank heavens Britain does far more subsidization, and we in the US benefit from what they produce.

Not sure. I don't like the idea of the arts essentially existing at the whims of the rich (as it did for many centuries before public funding) and much of the big business models of the movie/television/model/theatre/music industries are fairly monstrous, but a lot of media funding is essentially a corporate giveaway e.e. Subsidies to film studios is a crazy race to the bottom.

Strongly disagree. Nobody needs it, and if it can't survive on its own, it's obvious that people don't care enough to pay for it anyways.

Not federal at this time.

Just state/local.

Maybe federal if we have a fair system with a budget surplus.

Why not subsidize science and art? It's not like most of these things cost any significant amount of money in the overall budget.

This, although some things related to art do need to survive on their own.
