Looks like we're going to have a Liberal majority, this is just wow.

Not a single established pollster (that I'm aware of) predicted a majority for the Libs. I believe the highest seat count number was 149.

I'm ignorant when it comes to Canadian politics.  Could someone give me an American equivalent for the Tories, Liberal, and NDP?  Is Bloc basically like the SNP in the UK?  What is the Christian Heritage Party- I was talking to a Canadian who said he was voting for them?

I could be wrong but I'll try my best:
Conservatives - Moderate Republicans (so Republican)
Liberals - they have moved to the left this election but they are the centrist party but they would be equal to moderate Democrats
NDP - the traditional social democratic party equivalent to the Bernie Sanders type of Democrats.

Greens - our Greens but theirs is slightly more right wing than ours

Bloc - yes similar to the SNP.

The CBC seat predictor had the Liberal's absolute max at 169/170 I believe.

Far more right-wing; they are eco-capitalists essentially.

Christian Heritage: Occupies same position as Constitution, only they are much to left fiscally and are monarchists.

Also, I think it's safe to say Mulcair is having the worst night of any leader, given the wreckage in Quebec. Also lol at Ruth Ellen Brosseau being one of the NDP survivors Smiley

With Liberals and Conservatives I really just meant relative to the GOP and Democrats.  I obviously knew which they were in relation to each other!

I'm reading on MSNBC that Justin Trudeau will become the new Prime Minister. Is that true?

Liberals are sweeping Toronto, even leading the NDP in Toronto-Danforth.
