Going to be a bit outrageous here but will former Prime Minister Stephen Harper's ego allow him to remain PM and if he does try to remain is it likely he will be ousted?

That's actually an interesting thought. It's hard telling what Harper will do, but for me its kind of hard to see him going out gracefully.

Such an action would be outrageous in the 21st century Westminster system and would probably see Harper very quickly dismissed as Tory leader.

And, if Harper for some reason refused to resign and refused to call the new Parliament in a short while could very well be dismissed by the Governor-General.

Mulcair is leading by just under two points in Outremont.

Yeah this is more something out of a progressive's fevered nightmares than anything substantive.

Well, thank God we got rid of Harper! That's what matters most, in the end.

Hope Biebertrudeau doesn't disappoint my already low expectations...

It terms of seat share and vote share CPC would be roughly be at around their 2004 performance.  In terms of vote share they will do a couple of percentage point better than 2004.

This is bad, but a Liberal victory is not the end of the world. It could have been much worse. Hope that the Liberals' policy on Israel will be somewhat similar to the Tories' - probably not in terms of statements, but at least in terms of policy...

Mulcair has just called Trudeau to concede.  Fascinating night like most election nights in Canada.

Night everyone.

Well, I'm glad Trudeau won. He seems like a nice person who would be the best leader for Canada today. CONGRATULATIONS!

Depressing night. This isn't change. Could have been worse for the NDP and I think we're getting a new NDP and CPC leader in the coming year. We'll see how Trudeau leads - rather, how his handlers tell him to lead.

Exit Irwin Cotler.
Exit John Baird.
Exit Stephen Harper.

Here's to a hopefully slightly less Zionist Canada.

CTV projects Mulcair will win re-election in Outremont.  So he could stay on as leader, if the NDP still wants him.

I believe Ruth Ellen Brosseau is the only Quebec NDP MP to be winning by double-digits Cheesy

EDIT: I missed Alexandre Boulerice. They are the two safest NDP MPs.
