If Trudeau wins a minority, especially a narrow one, I imagine he'll stick around until the next election like Martin did. If not he could resign anywhere from election night to a couple years into the term and we'll have a by-election.

Agreed that if it's a slim Lib minority Harper will hold on (possibly even to the leadership). But if it's clear the Libs are going to govern for 2+ years then Harper won't put himself through it.

Yes. When Harper got fed up with Preston Manning, he quit in January '97 rather than finish the term.

Whether there is a byelection or not, I wonder who the next Tory candidate will be. After all, its a very desirable seat.
