I would like to extend a comradely greeting to all comrades gathered here for the Second Convention of the Socialist Party of South America.

The first item on our agenda is elections to the National Executive. Nominations will open in twenty four hours to allow delegates time to sign in.

Nominations for the National Executive are closed. All incumbents have been re-elected unopposed.

Now we must move on to urgent matters: the election may not be far away and we need to sort out the Party list. Who wishes to run?

I would like to announce my sincerest support for all of our current members of parliament to run for the front-bench positions again; we have had an exceptional opposition team, and I am looking forward to maybe assemble that same team as part of a new government after the election!

Comrade General Secretary, if I may shortly adress the convened members of our party.

Comrades, honourable members of the Socialist Party,

Our nation is at crossroads. In a few days, we will be presented a choice. A choice between forwards, and backwards; a choice between the politics of the old, and the politics of the new. As our government has repeatedly shown, they are simply incapable of taking that step forwards. Instead of illuminating our nation as a shining beacon, a model for the people all over our planet; they bludgeon peaceful protesters and propose laws that threaten to dangerously change the balance and social justice in our nation in favour of the wealthy few. This is not what forward politics looks like. This is reminiscent of the policies our continent far too often suffered in the past, and the policies the South American people have risen so often.

If we want our nation to progress forward, we will need an alternative, a choice that will truly deliver the policies on this path forward. My comrades, you honourable members of this Socialist Party of South America, we will be the choice for the path forward. We will illuminate our nation on the shining path into a great future, we will be the true alternative to this disatrous government. Instead of driving down dissent voices, we will invite them to the table of negotiation with us. Instead of serving just the wealthy and foreign multinational corporation, we will serve all the people of our nation. We will be the choice for everyone that is as desperate for change as we are.

In the following days, the National Executive will discuss our election manifesto, detailing how exactly our path forward into the future will look like.

Come join us, on the forward path into the future!

Cranberry,
Party Leader

With debate seemingly sleeping in, I motion for the following to be adopted as our party list for the election:

Members have twenty four hours to nominate an alternative list or the list proposed by Comrade Cranberry will be adopted by, as the Canadians say, acclamation.

This is a good and radical programme. The strong industrial policy is particularly welcome and will go down with the workers of this great land.

Thank you, comrade. I take that then this programme was accepted by the convention by acclamation?
