Ok, let's say hypothetically Ronald Reagan never started losing his mental state and the 22nd Amendment was repealed and decided to challenge President Clinton in 1996, who would win in that scenario? Discuss with maps!

Personally I think Reagan would win it in the end.

Former President Ronald Reagan/Former Presidential Advisor Patrick Buchanan - 291 EV
President William Clinton/Vice President Albert Gore - 247 EV

Reagan's popularity in the south severely undercuts Clinton's base of support. The traditionally Republican constituencies in the north that voted for Clinton in '92 defect back to the GOP. The margin of victory in California is slim but the demographic transformation of the state ensures that it remains in the Democratic column.

You guys are forgetting this is 1996 not 1988, when Clinton was very popular and with the US in a time of period of peace and prosperity , it would be nearly impossible to defeat Clinton. Also Reagan would be 85 in 1996 and there would be massive questions if he could handle another 4 years.

Here's the map

Clinton 291
Reagan 247

Now if it's 1988 Reagan wins big

Reagan 381
Clinton 157

Even in 1992(If Bush stepped down like Bush JR said he would) I would see maybe Reagan winning as Perot wouldnt have that much of an impact

Reagan 302
Clinton 236

If it was 88 it would be a Reagan victory,92 Clinton and 96 Clinton.
