Obviously every communist country has had issues. And Marxism doesn't make sense by itself. But some Marxist ideas are useful.

I am surprised so many are anticommunist.  If we take the The Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto of 1848

1. Abolition of private property in land and application of all rents of land to public purpose.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the state.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal obligation of all to work.  Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.

It seems to me that the mainstream and for sure center-left parts if the Dem party are for most of what is above with even a good part of the GOP are for or at least accepted some of the above.

Yes, of course I am anticommunist and anti-Marxist (normal), although "be it economic or social" is somewhat unclear to me, firstly because I don't think one can make that distinction and secondly because I'm not sure what "social Marxism" actually means. Is it like "Cultural Marxism", a slur traditionalists use for everything they don't like, including things that didn't even exist in communist countries?

At MAX, the democratic party support only #2 and #10, the GOP to my knowledge supports none of them, maybe some form of #10, being generous.

Absolutely. Marxism is utopianism, and trying to force utopia never works in our inherently flawed world.

I'm not a communist, but I'm not anti-communist. Unless they're the kind of annoying trots who never do anything or unreconstructed tankie Stalinites, they can have good ideas and are useful in a sort of extraparliamentary "external pressure" sense.

100% anti-communist. I don't understand how anybody could not be. Communism, along with fascism, is one of the most evil ideologies ever developed.

Okay, please do explain why communism is "evil." Please do not use incorrect arguments such as saying that the Soviet Union or Maoist China were communist, they were not and nor did they claim to be, rather they claimed that they were "socialist" which they also were not considering the lack of workplace democracy/democratic planning of the economy by society.

By the way this is for all "anti-communists" not just superman who just happened to be the last fascist anti-communist to post.

Yes, I'm anti-communist. Capitalism is the only system that creates a group of individuals, entrepreneurs, who in order to succeed, HAVE TO CONCERN THEMSELVES WITH THE WANTS AND NEEDS OF THE CONSUMER. While both capitalism and communism can become corrupt, there's a much better system of checks and balances within capitalism than under communism. The incentive for profit encourages businesses to be efficient and to provide better and better goods/services to people, due to competition. There is no such incentive under communism and this usually leads to massive inefficiencies. For example, in the USSR, only 2% of land for agriculture was privately owned, but that 2% produced around 25% of the total agricultural output of the country.

I'm anticommunist in the sense that I don't believe it's an effective way to run an economy and can lead easily to authoritarian rule. I don't think it's an "inherently evil" system, and if I had to pick between fascism and communism, I'd pick communism every time.

The term makes no sense in the Year of Our Lord 2015: the Soviet Union has been dead and buried for a quarter of a century and so there is no Communism to be opposed to.
