Who would be the strongest VP pick for Hillary Clinton?

I ran a series of polls on this a year or two ago, and the final result was Sherrod Brown, and Mark Warner had a lot of support too. I'm wondering how different it will be now.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine:

-Fluent in Spanish. Can bring more Latinos to the Democratic Party.
-Centrist/Center-left. Can appeal to independent voters, which you need to win elections.
-Safe choice. Kaine will not embarrass the Clinton campaign in Brooklyn.
-Balance. As a white male, Kaine can bring balance to the ticket.
-Brings Virginia to the ticket.
-Potentially brings Missouri into play. (Went to high school in Kansas City, Mo., if the Clinton campaign was wise, they would have him there throughout October.

Any popular Democrat from Virginia or Ohio (assuming her opponent isn't Kasich) or Florida (assuming her opponent isn't Rubio or Bush).

If Hillary wins any 1 of those 3 states, she almost definitely wins the White House.

Cool, had no idea he was bilingual! Sick of hearing about Julian Castro, he doesn't even speak Spanish lol.

Yep. I used to think Heinrich was her best bet, but considering the likelihood that Senate control will be at best 50-50 for the Democrats, we need every Senate seat we can get, and Martinez would be in charge of picking Heinrich's successor until the midterms. Consider me onboard the Kaine train.

Kaine is some useless "Democrat" who lost 64 House seats on his watch as DNC chair. Next!

If she'd be willing to pull a Darth Vad- Er, Dick Cheney, she could move to Illinois or, please no, ARKANSAS and register there. After that, I maintain De Blasio would be a perfect running-mate if the top two front runners weren't a fellow New Yorker and a socialist Vermontian.

O'Malley, Schweitzer, or Biden would all valuable are Blasio immensely.

If Hillary isn't quite Darth Vader-bad, I think she would pick Rahm Emanuel, Cory Gardner, Martin Heinrich, or Gavin Newsom.

What's wrong with boring center-left white guys? They're effective and they're ready to govern immediately.

Whereas one year ago, it might have seemed that Hillary's best pick would be a boring center-left white guy like Tim Kaine, it is becoming increasingly apparent that issues like income inequality are going to be the next major political issues. Even Republicans are talking about them. Hillary won't be running as a Southern dixiecrat like Bill did, so Kaine goes out the window (along with Warner, Beshear, Schweitzer, McCaskill, etc.), she'll be running as Bernie Lite, even if she won't deliver on that.

A veep pick who resonates with the progressive base will most probably be her no. 2. They also have to be young. Most likely the veep pick will be male. And they might be nonwhite, but this is not assured.

If she wants a Latino, then Xavier Becerra, or really needs black support then she should pick Deval Patrick, but if she's really struggling among whites and men then Tim Kaine would be a safe pick. I think in order to win Hillary needs to turn out black voters so she should pick a black VP it will matter in OH, VA, PA, & FL.

It's not like they'll just have one candidate. There's likely to be a shortlist of some kind. People I see on it.

Mark Warner: Virginia. Very experienced. Better natural politician than Kaine. Successful businessman.

Tim Kaine: Virginia. Still pretty experienced. Demonstrated discipline as Warner's Lieutenant Governor/ DNC Chair. Governor who developed reputation on foreign policy issues.

Cory Booker: Popular African-American Senator with executive experience, and a comfort level in front of cameras.

Julian Castro: They've kinda built a potential Veep with him. Young Hispanic guy with a resume that looks okay.

Xavier Becerra: Latino with experience in congressional leadership, and a comfort in front of cameras as a prominent party surrogate.

Brian Schatz: Young progressive Senator in interracial marriage.

Chris Murphy: Young progressive favorite getting attention as policy leader. The Clintons were concerned he might run for President.

Michael Bennet: On paper, he seems to be the best. Age-appropriate Senator from the crucial swing state of Colorado, with a background in education, always one of the most important issues. Has not developed much of a national profile, though.

The ideal candidate would be someone from a swing state, but one that would not alienate Sanders supporters, if that is possible.

Tom Vilsack would be good too.

Same state doesn't really matter, considering Hillary can always change her home state to Arkansas.

Someone younger than 60. Cory Booker or Tim Kaine, maybe. Centrist probably.

What about Marilyn Mosby? She seems like the traditional attack dog role that the Clinton campaign needs.

Booker would be a good choice except for the fact that Christie would get to appoint his successor until the 2017 special election.

As boring as he is, I think Kaine would be the best choice. He's a Senator from a crucial swing state with a Democratic governor, he's under 60, and he has fairly normal Democratic positions AFAIK. But it really depends on what the polls are looking like. If Minnesota appears to be a pure tossup, maybe Klobuchar would be a good choice. I don't really agree with the notion that she has to choose a white man for the purpose of choosing a white man.
