Now it goes to court, as Obama didn't comply with the terms of the original legislation and refused to release the full text of the deal.

And if Israel is compelled to take out Iran's facilities to stop them from getting a bomb, we'll find out exactly what Obama secretly promised Iran.

Also, before this is over, McConnell needs to invoke the nuclear option much like Reid did and bar the filibuster for treaties and international agreements. It's unlikely to ever play much of a role, because future Presidents will respect the concept of submitting treaties as legally required.

Does this mean it doesn't go to the House?  If it doesn't that means that Representatives like Walter Jones probably won't have to worry about a primary challenger making this a central issue against him.

I assume the House is going to vote on it anyway, especially as debate is continuing in the Senate.

Really doesn't matter, those 42 votes won't budge in the Senate. The Deal will be implemented.

WE DID IT! It's a historic deal, and probably Obama's second greatest achievement after Obamacare. The world is a slightly better place today. Smiley

Ruppersberger, Neal and Crowley all support the deal, Sinema is unsurprisingly opposed as is Gwen Graham.

Update - Raul Ruiz and Bill Keating have announced their support as well. Only 18 Dems are undecided now.

Honestly, what the f*k is your opposition to the deal, you obviously don't want peace or diplomacy with the deal.

My opposition is this you know how much money the United States gives to Iran in this deal $100 BILLION, we never rescued or 4 American Hostages so there still stuck in some prison in Iran, we allowed them to keep many centrifuges etc. And we did this with a country that calls America the big Satan and Israel the little satan. And Ayatollah Khamani said yesterday on Twitter that Israel won't exist in 25 years. Israel won't be quite again and they will fight and drag the world into war.

Yes, Israel is a dangerous rogue state run by psychopaths. For the sake of humanity we can only hope the Ayatollahs prediction is right.

Reps. Joyce Beatty (D-OH), Ami Bera (D-CA), Bill Keating (D-MA), Joseph Crowley (D-NY), Richard Neal (D-MA), Cedric Richmond (D-LA), Raul Ruiz (D-CA), Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), and Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) all support the Deal.

Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is a no.

Democrats now have enough votes in the House to override a veto, if necessary.

Economic liberalization and growth in Iran is the only way to cultivate internal pressure on the regime to democratize.

Sanctions are counter-productive and only hurt the people we are trying to help.

The regime faces tremendous pressure domestically and coupled with low oil prices, could be ripe for some internal conflicts very soon.

House voted to disapprove the Iran Deal, the disapproval passed 269-169.

25 Democrats voted for disapproval, all the Republicans voted for disapproval expect Thomas Massie (R-KY) who voted present.

Opponents of the Deal fell 18 votes sort of the number needed for a Veto override, which will be unnecessary with the Senate filibuster.

Waiting for an official vote tally from the House in order to post the 25 Democratic defectors.

(1)My opposition is this you know how much money the United States gives to Iran in this deal $100 BILLION, (2) we never rescued or 4 American Hostages so there still stuck in some prison in Iran, we allowed them to keep many centrifuges etc. And we did this with a country that calls America the big Satan and Israel the little satan. And Ayatollah Khamani said yesterday on Twitter that Israel won't exist in 25 years. Israel won't be quite again and they will fight and drag the world into war.

1.) Strawman point-the $100 billion cited has never actually been backed up iirc, and regardless of what the US does the sanctions from the UN/EU would rollback so it would just be a US sanction (which worked wonders in the 1980's!) The whole point of these sanctions was to stop them getting nuclear weapons, which the deal does. Why the hell would you not withdraw sanctions after they agreed to a historic deal with there sworn enemies-Iran even talking with the US is like the US talking to Al-Qaeda after 9/11.

2.) Hostages? At least one of them worked for the CIA Regardless I don't understand why this should stop a nuclear deal taking place. The previous policy of doing nothing clearly didn't help the hostages at all did it? People are using this deal to basically shout about how awful Iran is-we know it's awful, we know that they have different geopolitical aims but that doesn't mean that we should stop ourself from reaching an agreement.

3.) we allowed them to keep many centrifuges? This deal cuts the amount of centerfuges by 2/3rds, it reduces their enriched uranium by 98% and monitors all there sites. How can they make a nuclear bomb with just centrifuges?

4.) Considering the US supported one of the worst post WW2 tyrants in the Shah of Iran, then gave Saddam Hussein chemical weapons advice, funding and aid when he attacked Iran. How can you expect them to have a good view of the USA? It was Saint Ronnie who approved all this you know
