The following candidates will be attending the Bipartisan Select Healthcare Summit:

- Joe Biden
- Kirsten Gillibrand
- Bill Haslam
- John Kasich
- Buddy Roemer

The Biden campaign again extends an invitation to all candidates, and wishes to include the Democratic candidates again. Senator Warren would be especially appreciated. The Summit will be held from 9:00 A. M. until 5:00 P. M. on January the fourteenth. Each attendee will be paired with a member of the opposite party for two hours, working on a rough draft of healthcare plans.

- Thomas Roberts, Biden campaign spokesman

OOC: Darthe, could you tell me if the following independents could attend the meeting?:

Businessman Hiram Ross Perot, Jr.(TX)
John B. Anderson(IL)
Larry Pressler(SD)
Joseph Lieberman(CT)
Angus King(ME)

None of those people are actually running in the election, but if you'd like them to attend I'm fine with that! Smiley I'll also post their views/thoughts on the issues you discuss if you would like me to.

When is this summit going to take place (in real life time)?

... Um... I was thinking the partners would PM each other their ideas, present them here, and then have a private group PM over gathering it into one drafted Bill. The Select Committee would vote for several lists of permanent members, who would have until, say, Turn 10 to gather a full drafted Bill to pass Congress once someone is elected and inaugurated.

January 3rd
Debate with Noam Chomsky on socialism at Dartmouth university.
Noam, while your right that capitalism gives those who disregard the citizenry unwanted power, socialism
gives absolute to the very few at a level that just hasn’t happened. Even in the Gilded Age, an era of moral depravity
when some of the wealthiest paid citizens monopolized whole industry, no one could monopolize the whole economy
like your inevitably forced to do in a socialist society.

Meet and greet in Manover, New Hampshire
Phone call with Cory Gardner. “Compassionate conservatism is the way for this party to grow”.

January 4th.

Rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Meeting with Joni Ernst.

January 5th
Town Hall in Des Moines, Iowa
Q: You’ve made some statements indicating we should just accept the high court’s ruling on gay marriage.
Do you stand by that?
A: Not quite. I wish I could get congress to pass an amendment prohibiting states from re-defining marriage but
there’s not enough public support for that.

AD AIRING NATIONWIDE!

Ted Cruz thinks he's man to lead our party, but can we trust someone who expresses sentiments like this?

The very first political contribution I ever made was to Jesse Helms. We 100 more like Jesse Helms in the senate.!

You mean, this Jesse Helms?

(Real Jesse Helms quotes)
"White people, wake up before it is too late. Do you want Negroes working beside you, your wife and your daughters, in your mills and factories? Frank Graham favors mingling of the races."   "The government should spend less money on people with AIDS because they got sick as a result of deliberate, disgusting, revolting conduct." "UNC is the University of Negroes and communists!" "The [Washington] Post caters to homosexual groups. Just about every person down there is homosexual or lesbian."  "Watch me make her cry. I'm going to make her cry. I'm going to sing 'Dixie' until she cries." - Said to US Sen. Orrin Hatch about Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun, an African-American.

Ted Cruz's Ideal Republican Senator. Any Questions?

"Brown is the smartest man in politics - barring, perhaps, his excellent judge of character. Then, we see something none of us ever thought to see: Brown mentoring a man possibly more intelligent than him, Gavin Newsom. I have always considered him a fellow maverick, and while his endorsement would mean a lot to me, I understand his meeting with Elizabeth Warren.

"I have also met with him, and I heard ringing in my ears several things Warren criticizes Republicans for. A flat tax, which he explained as still taxing more for making more without being as divisive, complicated, costly, or difficult. Less restrictions on gun control than many of our, ahem, progressive wing favors - he claims that, as with abortion, our personal freedom is more important than possible harm.

"It went on and on, and I am surprised a 'true progressive,' which apparently I am not, is willing to accept such an endorsement from a man more dedicated to bipartisanship than myself, for which she has upbraided me. I am very disappointed in Senator Warren's hypocrisy, though I wish her the best of luck, as I do with all contenders."

- Joe Biden on Morning Joe, discussing Warren's meeting with Governor Brown

" Thank you ! Thank you ! This has been an amazing journey..... I have gone across this great nation and met people of all political stripes..... It has been an honor to carry your hopes and dreams. Last Night, I received Word that my Mother passed away..... she has been a strong influence in my life. Because of that, I have withdrawn from the race. Senator Gillibrand will take on the world, her leadership proves that you can put progressive ideas into action..... I endorse her, because she can sew this nation back together. Thank you ! "

The partners at the January 13 Bipartisan Healthcare Meeting will be as follows:

- Joe Biden & John Kasich
- Kirsten Gillibrand & Bill Haslam
- Buddy Roemer & Elizabeth Warren

We advise each candidate to come prepared to work hard. We will have ninety minutes with our partners, each group will have thirty minutes to pass out copies of ideas agreed upon and explain, and then we will have five hours more after these three hours to form a rough draft of a bill.

*slideshow of other candidates - news anchors voices:
"Angry rage, moderately inexperienced, politically unbalanced..."

"What candidate can understand our needs and has the right experience? Vice President Joe Biden. With twenty-seven years in the Senate, nearly a decade as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, and eight years as Vice President, does. But what is your plan, Mr. Vice President?" The narrator, a woman, has her voice flow to music.

"One: we need an economic stimulus passed on my first hundred days in office. This, combined with my new tax plan*,  will energize the American middle class without breaking the backs of the upper class. I would also be willing to consider a one percent nationwide sales tax in all states. First, however, I would request each state's approval. If one refuses, they will have half of their economic stimulus thrown in as extra income. If more than one third refuse, it won't be done. If more than three but less than one third refuse, they will receive the economic stimulus but may not receive further ones.

"Secondly, we need a diversified economy. I will open talks with Germany, and use economic affairs to encourage businesses on the East Coast and most of America to begin more use of Euros and vice versa with American dollars in Germany and the United Kingdom. On the West Coast, we will have Japan and the Philippines, our allies, begin helping us do the same with our dollar there.

"Lastly, we need to balance our budget to promote stability. Hopefully, I will be able to release a plan to do so before the first week of February is up. This, combined with my hopeful farther expansion of Medicaid, will give America hope and positivity back with me during such a negative campaign. Barack Obama campaigned on hope, and now all are destroying the hope he created. I pledge to restore this hope back to America, and I pledge to do this by only being President for one term."

"I'm Joe Biden, and I approve this message."

"The Political Action Committee for Honest Joe has paid for and approved of this ad."

Play the above ad in the following states:

>90%: $2,500,000
>70%: $1,750,000
>50%: $1,250,00
>30%: $500,000

______________________________________________________________

*
The One Point One to Fifty Point One Plan

$0-$15,000: 0.0%
$15,001-$20,000: 1.1%
$20,000-$40,000: 5.1%
$40,001-$65,000: 10.1%
$65,001-$110,000: 15.1%
$110,001-$200,000: 25.1%
$200,001-$250,000: 35.1%
$250,001-$400,000: 40.1%
$400,000-$750,000: 45.1%
$750,000+: 50.1%

Additionally, the gas tax will be raised to forty-nine and a half cents on foreign-imported oil, and four-and-a-half cents on American oil. This money will be used a fourth of with to pay for infrastructure repairs, half for Medicaid expansions, and another fourth will be put away as safe money to help balance the budget.

Bob Ehrlich: July - December Summary

July. Governor Ehrlich campaigned hard in the Northeast, with the goal of consolidate the support that he already had and expand his lead in New Hampshire. He spent some days in Maine, New York and Massachusetts, but the majority of time was spent in the Granite State. By the end of the month, Ehrlich hold more than 50 events in New Hampshire and at least one campaign HQ was opened in each county of the state.

August. New Hampshire was considered a must-win state by the Ehrlich campaign and he continued to campaign here in August, but the majority of time was spent in the early states of Iowa and South Carolina. These states were not friendly as New Hampshire for Ehrlich, but keeping presence and gaining delegates here was very important for the Governor.
The message was clear: Ehrlich is a man of principles, a man of conservative principles that can win a general election. Governor Ehrlich campaigned in Iowa, holding a series of meet and greets and addressing huge crowds at the State Fair, and in South Carolina, with the precious help of Senator Graham. By the end of the month, at least 4 Campaign HQ were opened in both states.

September. The first half of the month was spent in a tour in the early states of Minnesota, North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia. Starting to have a team here was important for Ehrlich campaign, because these Super Tuesday states are considered friendly by the Governor.
Governor Ehrlich spent the rest of the time in Nevada with Senator Heller and Representative Hardy, in order to consolidate his standings in the state, after that recent polls showed a competitive race in the state. Ehrlich spent also various and precious days in New Hampshire.

October. A week was spent in various events in Super Tuesday states of Colorado, Massachusetts, Vermont and in Michigan. Keeping and starting to establish a campaign team in these early states is fundamental in all primary seasons, expecially in a close one as 2016, when each delegate might be decisive.
By the end of the month, Governor Ehrlich hold more than 90 events in New Hampshire. Ehrlich hold expecially town halls meetings and the response of New Hampshire citizens was positive and constructive.

November. Governor Ehrlich continued to campaign in the 4 early states of the primary seasons. 4president.org, a web-site covering presidential campaigns, said that in this month 48% of public events were hold in New Hampshire. 26% in Iowa, 16% in Nevada, 7% in South Carolina and 3% in other states.
Campaigning by person in each state was important for the campaign, but the money was important too. Ehrlich hold various fundraisers during all the campaign season, expecially on this month. A big amount of money was raised and used for various campaign ads.

Bob Ehrlich during a rally in Davenport, IA.

December. Various events were hold in the Granite State, but the Iowa caucuses were coming and invigorating presence here was the first goal of the Ehrlich campaign in this month. By the end of the year, Governor Ehrlich hold more than 110 events in New Hampshire, more than 50 events in Iowa and at least 20 events in both South Carolina and Nevada.
Governor Ehrlich spent holidays with his family at his home in Maryland and met with some old friends in the state in order to hear their thoughts on the campaign strategy.

During all months, Governor Ehrlich spent time on appareances on TV networks. Bob Ehrlich had at least 5 TV appareances for month, expecially on Fox News, then CNN and MSNBC.
GOTV operations were the major objective of the campaign for all months and by the end of the year, GOTV teams were ready to stump for Ehrlich in all the early states of the primary seasons (first 4 and Super Tuesday states).

Bob Ehrlich TV AD - A Positive Vision for America

To air in the following states:

Bob Ehrlich speaks to camera:

"There are candidates that are spending their time attacking me, saying that I'm not a real conservative.
I'm running a positive campaign on a positive vision for America. I'm running a campaign based on my ideas for our country and on my record. When I was Governor of Maryland, we created 100.000 private sector jobs. We balanced the budget. We said no to tax increases. We reduced unemployement. We opened new schools. We made education a priority. We protected our environment.
It's time for a candidate with a conservative record, not just words, it's time for a candidate of principles. It's time for a candidate that can spread our message between all voters, it's time for a candidate that can win in November. I'm that kind of candidate and that's why I'm asking for your vote.
I'm Bob Ehrlich and I approve this message."

Bob Ehrlich - Endorsements of Round 2

"I'm proud to endorse Governor Bob Ehrlich for President. As Governor of Maryland, he oversaw a drop in unemployment, he balanced the budget, and said no to tax increase. It was right for Maryland, it's right for the United States. He's the man that America needs." -- Former Massachusetts Governor and 2012 Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney

"I'm the sitting Governor of Massachusetts. Winning a statewide election in Massachusetts requires cross-over appeals, being able to speak to all voters. Bob did that in Maryland and I'm sure he's the only person that can do it this time." -- Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker

"Bob Ehrlich is a man of convictions with a strong and bold vision for the future of our country. He will do the right things for New Hampshire and for the United States, so we are proud to support Governor Ehrlich as the next President of the United States." -- New Hampshire Senate Majority Leader Jeb Bradley and New Hampshire Senate President Chuck Morse in a joint statement

"If you ask me who is the only person that can win New Hampshire, my answer is Bob Ehrlich. He is not an extreme candidate, his message reasonate with New Hampshire voters and if he is doing so well in New Hampshire, he is the right person to win." -- New Hampshire House Speaker Shawn Jasper

"Both me and Bob Ehrlich have been U.S. Representatives from some years. He knows how Washington works. At his time, Washington was working better than now. Now, it's a disaster. All of us, all americans want to see a change in Washington. He can do that and he has my support." -- Former U.S. Representative Charles Bass of New Hampshire

"If we want an American revival, Bob Ehrlich is the man. He has the right ideas and the right record to make the United States a most secure and prosperous country. He will fight hard for our security, our economy, our principles. That's why he has my support." -- U.S. Senator Dean Heller from Nevada

"We must do something for our economy. And Governor Ehrlich has a strong record on that matter. He created jobs, he balanced the budget. Bob said no to more taxes for the citizens of his state. Let's imagine all of this nationwide. It would be fantastic. It's not just a dream, it might be reality very soon. How? By voting Bob Ehrlich" -- U.S. Representative Cresent Hardy from Nevada

Ted Cruz Campaign Schedule: January 3rd - 9th

January 3rd:Accompanied by Congressman Steve King
Ted Cruz will spent the first day touring the northwest, conservative parts of the state. This is where his campaign has assessed to be his strongest area in Iowa. Cruz kept a positive message these, days, touting his conservative credentials.
Meet and Greet - Doon, Iowa
Meet and Greet - Sioux Center, Iowa
Town Hall Meeting - Orange City, Iowa
Appearance on KLEM 1410 - Le Mars, Iowa
Private Meeting with Senator Joni Ernst

Ted Cruz Speaking with Republicans in Orange City, Iowa

I have a proven record of conservatism and I can win. In 2012, Mitt Romney was considered the most electable Republican, and I ran nearly even with him in my run for Senate. Ultimately, we need leadership in Washington D.C. that is willing to buck the norm and shake things up - I did that in Texas by taking on the establishment, and I will happily do it again as President.

You see, our founding fathers didn't intend for politics to be a career option - I know they would be disappointed to see the political class we have in our country, the "good ole' boys" network. I will be the President who closes the loopholes, make the necessary cuts to get us on track to a balanced budget, and unbashfully stands for religious freedom and the right to life.

January 4th:Accompanied by Secretary of State Matt Schultz
Ted Cruz will be spending the day in the central, more populous part of the state. Today his focus will be on comparing his record to Governor Ehrlich's, who, with the departure of Branstad, Cruz sees as his biggest threat in Iowa. He will also spend the evening trying to secure endorsements from influential Iowans.
Roundtable with College Republicans at Iowa State University - Ames, Iowa
Meet and Greet - Ankeny, Iowa
Campaign Rally - Des Moines, Iowa
Private Dinner with Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds - Des Moines, Iowa
Private Meeting with Senator Chuck Grassley - Des Moines, Iowa

January 5th:Accompanied by Secretary of State Matt Schultz
Cruz will spend the day in eastern Iowa - his message of conservatism won't resonate as well here, so Cruz will primarily spend the day on the attack of Ehrlich, arguing the importance of not electing a pro-choice President.
Town Hall Meeting - Iowa City, Iowa
Town Hall Meeting - Mt Vernon, Iowa
Campaign Rally - Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Appearance on Hannity
Phone Call with former Congresswoman Jean Schmidt

Ted Cruz speaking in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Thank you for having me here today!

The right to life - it is a belief deep in the hearts of many Republican voters, here and Iowa and abroad. When looking at candidates, one of the most critical things for me to look at is whether or not the candidate places value on this. While most of the candidates in this race share our value, not all do. Governor Ehrlich has repeatedly argued an anti-abortion position, and Governor Roemer, in addition to falsely putting words in my mouth, vetoed three pieces of legislation as governor that would have placed heavier restrictions on abortion. Perhaps that is part of the reason he placed so poorly when he tried to run for governor again a few years later!

You all know the importance - with multiple Supreme Court appointments likely to be made by our next president, it is crucial that we have a president who is pro-life. I will only appoint pro-life judges - the same can not be said of Governor Ehrlich.

Ted Cruz talking on FOX News
O'Reilly: Senator Cruz, thank you for being here again.
Cruz: Thanks Bill, it is a pleasure being with you again.
O'Reilly: You've been hit by several of your opponents for being too conservative. How do you respond to that?
Cruz: It comes as no surprise, because compared to them, I am pretty conservative. Governor Ehrlich has a swarm of ethics issues and has a pro-choice record, Kasich expanded Medicaid in his state, and Haslam has been involved with groups that want to limit the 2nd amendment. I am the only proven conservative candidate in the race - Republicans are tired of wishy-washy moderates who haven't been able to seal the deal in the general election. I am the only candidate in this race who can rally the base, which is required if we want to win in November.
O'Reilly: Are you suggesting that others can't?
Cruz: Look, any candidate on our side would do a better job than President Obama or any of the Democrats. But do I think I have a better chance of winning? Of course.

There is a problem in Washington - it is bigger than Obamacare, bigger than our budget. The frustration is that men and women in D.C. aren't listening. I'm here to listen - I will be YOUR President. Not the Republican Party's. Not the special interests. Your voice in D.C.
- Ted Cruz

Keep the Promise PAC has released the following radio advertisement, which will air nationwide for the next two weeks.

VO: Bob Ehrlich - wrong for the Republican party. Wrong for America. Keep the Promise political action committee is responsible for the content of this advertisement.

Voter: "First of all, let me thank you for this dinner. Looks like you are the only candidate that is doing that and this is a great thing. I'd like to ask you a question. Some people are saying that you might consider to start an independent campaign if Ted Cruz will win the nomination. It's true?"
Ehrlich: "Thanks for the question. I have a lot of respect toward Senator Cruz, but simply I don't think that we can win the presidency with an extreme candidate as him. I'm standing and I'll continue to stand on my principles. I want to repeal Obamacare. I'm pro-life. Senator Cruz is continuing to say that I'm pro-choice, but I'm pro-life. I think that there should be exceptions in cases of rape, incest, mother's health, but I'm pro-life. I want to ban abortion from the start of the 2nd trimester."
Crowds chering
Ehrlich: "Back on the question. I don't think that Senator Cruz is the right candidate to win, but if he will be the nominee, I'll support him. We might disagree on various questions, but I still think that him, as the other republican presidential candidates, are better than the democrats running."
Crowds chering
Ehrlich: "So, tonight I'll make that pledge. I will support the eventual nominee of the Republican Party, even if it's not me. I'm making this pledge. Now, I'd like to ask the other republican candidates to do the same."

Statement from the Cruz Campaign

Senator Ted Cruz would be honored to appear at a town hall event with Governor Branstad on January 6th. As for Governor Ehrlich's pledge, Senator Cruz has said on countless occasions that any of the Republicans running would be better than President Obama or any of the Democrats running, and he maintains that position. In terms of running in a third party, Senator Cruz signed a petition over the summer that he would not run third party, as required to appear on the ballot in several states. Senator Cruz is confident that Republicans will nominate a candidate who is a proven conservative on important issues such as the right to life and protecting the second amendment.
