Apparently a sizable number of Dem leaders are starting to think Hassan will run for reelection instead of Senate. They mention CSP, Kuster and Pappas (who's resisting for now) as alternates.

Kuster is the most expendable, so hopefully she goes for it (we need CSP for CD-1)

I will now accept my accolades.

CSP won't run for Senate - she's unofficially in for NH-1. Kuster and Pappas are certainly possibilities.

Winning an R+4 district (which is about 1/5 of the state) in 2014 is nothing to laugh at.

Fair enough, but could he really make this race competitive? He'd have to run a STRONG campaign to defeat Ayotte. I also think Democrats would be well-advised to run a woman against Ayotte, considering how huge gender gaps in NH elections are.

I'd say it Leans R with him too. He'd give Ayotte a run for her money, but she's clearly favored.

I agree - Kuster is the better candidate.

Pappas is very popular, but he'd be the underdog.

She never sounded that keen on doing it.

Anyway good news for Ayotte, though given this is New Hampshire we're talking about she's hardly out of the woods.

Chris Pappas? Why? lol

Anyway, Hassan could still decide to jump into the race and Ayotte is still vulnerable. It's NH after all. Moving this race from "Toss up/Tilts D" to "Leans R" if Hassan decides not to run.

Chris Pappas sounds good. We know how important NH is to getting back senate and getting Clinton into WH with 272 electors, bare majority needed for control.

Yeah, this sounds about right. I mean, Jeanne Shaheen almost lost to SCOTT BROWN in 2014, I'm sure whoever the New Hampshire Dems recruit will eventually be able to move it to at least Tilt R, if not a full blown toss-up.

I could see Carol Shea-Porter potentially running

She's all but in for her old seat.

Holy fech.

I don't know if I like this, because she's not doing so well in the polls, but hopefully starting to actually campaign will change that.

Tossup Senate, Tilt R Governorship (because of Sununu)

John Sununu will be 77 years old by the time of the 2016 elections.....I would be amazed if he runs again.

If you mean Chris Sununu,  he isn't as big of a name as his father.

Chris has actually announced his candidacy for the governor, so I REALLY doubt John Sununu will run at his age "and" against his son.

Of course i meant Chris. He is 1 of the 5 Executive Councillors - and that's already worth of something. Famous name is always plus too. In addition - he seems (at least - relatively) to be the most moderate member of this family, and this is also a plus in purple state like this one.
