We need Opebo's "professional" opinion on this matter.

Bushie, what do you want to do? As you may have noticed, a lot of these vague jobs are in fact scams. Figure out what area of employment suits you. The 18-25 job is probably something in the "adult" field. Anything that says call today and start tomorrow is probably a scam as well.

Someone needs to ask Mikado more questions about his "entry-level prostitution" idea.  Like, why that would occur to him immediately [as opposed to say, porn or modeling], what happens at 26, and at what age "advanced prostitution" happens for him.

Well, at a certain point, you try to transition into management or, if successful enough, go freelance.

Obviously any job wanted ad where the job, requirements, and basically everything about it is completely indeterminable is a winner.  There are many questions about word choice there.

What kind of job has an upper-limit age cutoff of 25?  Entry-level prostitution?

Yes, I think that's it.  Why else would they specify the age limit, but not tell you what you'd actually be doing?  Only explanation is that what you'd be doing is illegal, so they can't advertise it.

The job with the upper age limit of 38 is probably also prostitution, but it's prostitution for olds.

I think Bushie should apply for that job and lie about his age.  Go down there and demand an interview, and then report back to us as to what happened.

I don't think the prostitution industry has much regard for consent laws.

I figured out what that call today/start tomorrow job is all about, or at least i have a good guess - ever heard of Kirby Vacuums?

Think about it: Setup/Display, Customer Service, and Mgmt Trainee.

I'm staying as far away from that as possible.

I did try Kirby's almost 6 years ago in early 2005 and I failed miserably.

Younger girls are much easier for pimps to manipulate because of their naivety.  So are Oklahomans apparently.

The 18-25 one is probably working at some lame non-alcoholic "youth club" or something. That's my guess from the "loud music and upbeat environments" thing. Kind of funny that people are disgusting it possibly being prostitution considering my suggestion to BushOklahoma is that he should be hiring them. Of course he needs a job first. One that at least tells you what the job is in the ad preferably.

Do you think it's possible that the 18-25 or the loud music could be possibly an arcade or other gaming venue?

Why would they not hire 26 year olds?  That doesn't make any sense.

I think you need to call them and ask about the job, just to satisfy our curiosity.  Or at least search for their phone # in Google to see if anything comes up.

Already been said, but ... don't respond to ads that don't say who you'll be working for. That's bullsh**t if they won't put that in there.

After googling the first number...

http://digitalissue.dallasobserver.com/publication/?i=40242&p=69

The 18-25 ad is right there in the center - verbatim to the ad in OKC.  I think it's an adult job.

Warning: Somewhat risque ad to the right.

After googling the phone number for the loud music ad, this is what I come up with.

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&rlz=1G1TSHBCENUS329&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=1-405-767-9718&fb=1&gl=us&hq=1-405-767-9718&hnear=Del+City,+OK&cid=4922602162091882729

It looks like a Business Management Consulting Firm or something.  Nothing risque about it.

After googling the phone number for the call today, start immediately, I get a number from Charlottesville, Virginia.  Odd.

The fourth ad, the $2,500 monthly base, I come up with a variety of what looks like telemarketing positions from Bethany, OK which is on the west side of OKC.  The prefixes are the same 405-384-xxxx and the suffixes are close to each other, which means they may have other positions and/or multiple lines.

Answer the cab driver ad.  It's kinda dangerous I guess, but you might get good tips for speaking English.

Business management consulting doesn't sound like a promising profession.  Real or not, big or small, any business than is just about... business.. is held together by a thread that is the first to snap when the economy hits a downturn.

If you are going to do Ameriplan, I highly suggest backing it up with something a little more blue collar.  Those are solid.  I don't recommend backing up your commission-based marketing job with another commission-based marketing job.

To answer an earlier question in the thread, at 26 you become a "MILF" and the business model changes completely.

Which one is the cab driver ad?  The job that's in both OKC and Dallas?

Nevermind it was in Dallas.

Bushie, I just thought of something... have you looked at government jobs?  They don't advertise in papers but usually they are solid sources of employment.

http://jobaps.com/ok/sup/BulPreview.asp?R1=100805&R2=E17A&R3=24

This one is at the Department of Health office in Midwest City.  2450 a month is decent.  About the same or more than you made for ONG.  Administrative assistant; minimum experience 4 years of education/work in similar field.  It sounds like mostly data entry stuff.  Your computer science degree plus your experience at ONG should add up to 4 years.  Even if not that, there's a ton on other similar admin and clerk jobs listed there around Oklahoma City that all would be in your field that require even less and pay pretty well.

Plus, if you can make the right friends, public employment promotes quickly.

That is an idea.  I also just found a customer service career fair at United Health Group in Oklahoma City tomorrow morning at 10:00.  I think I may pop in there to see what I can find.

How dare you let this thread slip off the first page?  Shame on you!!

Anyway, I have some very positive developments from today's activity.

First off, I went to a career fair for United Health Group call center job this morning at 10:00 and didn't get out of there until almost 2:00, which is a really good sign.  It is just a call center job taking mail order prescription requests basically.  It pays $12.37 an hour with full benefits.  The position could be any shift between 6 am and 11 pm Monday-Saturday, which means it could be a 6-3 shift or a 2-11 shift or anything in between.  I could very well work Saturdays, as well, but I would have two days off a week, Sunday plus another day.  I would start either this Monday, August 23 or possibly Tuesday, September 7.  For the first 8 weeks, I would work 8:30-5:30, and then I would go into the other shifts.  If I am placed on the 2-11 shift, I would get an 8% shift differential which would basically give me an extra dollar an hour (99 cents), and if I work anytime on Saturday it would be a 7% s.d. which would give me an extra 85 cents roughly.

The second interview I went to is that 18-25 ad that I told you about last night.  It is a marketing company, but with a base pay of $30,000 a year ($576.xx before taxes) after an 6-8 week training.  It would be entry-level management with some sales, but when he rattled off the $30,000 a year and $576.xx a week, I made him repeat that!  The company name is 2 in 1 management.

The first interview, I should have a final interview tomorrow or Wednesday and the second I would have a second, longer interview by the end of the week.

They both sound like very decent jobs and I think I could do either one.
