NO!

What has come over you MissCatholic?  If  you are going to be a religious you'ld be better off switching parties.

That's right opebo, encourage more people to be Republicans - that'll get them out of power. Wink

On this subject, I found there was a religious type club at my school. Apparently, a student preaches for 45 minutes is is quite good at it. Anyone else have something like this at their school?

No, but that would be kind of cool to watch.

There is a Knights for Christ prayer group at my public school.

We read the first few chapters of Genesis read to us in English Class when we were studying Paradise Lost. I don't object to bibles studies if they are treated as literature. Otherwise I have a problem with teaching the bible in school

Am I the only one who gets grammatically annoyed to no end when opebo uses the word "religious" as a singular noun?

That is intentional - the grammatical irritation is nearly as bad as the irritation the religious himself causes.

So in order to combat irritation, you become irritating.

Okay then, Mr. Logic.

What is so wrong with the Christian Church that it needs for public schools to do its job? Are the Christian establishment not compelling or successfully encouraging their young Christians to read the Bible? If this is needed, I guess they aren't.

It is perfectly acceptable to study the Bible as a work of literature, just as, for instance, The Iliad may be studied. To require students to study the Bible for religious purposes, however, would be intolerable.

After-school Bible study groups would only be acceptable if they were entirely open. Such groups should not admit only Christians, but also individuals of other religions, who should be free to challenge the Bible when they so please.

True, and if the study groups would have opportunities for people wishing to study other religions.

It isn't worth a constitutional amendment:

No, God should be banned in public schools. He causes too much trouble as it is already, too many conservatives use him as an excuse to hate education.

btw, I got a lap dance from a "religious" last night. She was really hot and I noticed she had a cross tattoo on her shoulder.

Considering that she's really hot and is fighting prudishness with her occupation, would opebo feed her to the lions?

Probably.  Using adjectives as nouns is a perfectly normal grammatical construction.  Granted, it is more usual to have them used as plural nouns in English, but there’s nothing ungramatical about using the singular instead.

Dictionary.com lists "religious" as an adjective and as a plural noun.  I can't find any authority anywhere that claims that it's correct to use it as a singular noun.

No. Even if the parents consent, they should not be allowed to use the tax-payer's money. That's why there's Sunday School.

Why shouldn't an after school club be able to discriminate with who their membership is ?  I can see if the clubs meet during school, like mine school does it, but not if it an after school group. Sports teams do this all the time.
