The ironic part is that in 2010 he got the support of most of RI's unions, including my own (AFT). For the AFT not to endorse the Democrat shows you just how pathetic the RI Democratic Party is.

He's actually a rare American example of a "real" liberal as in the European sense. Plus the way he floats around parties and switches positions would fit him in the Liberal Democrats well too.

I hate the cliche responses, but he really doesn't seem to have a very strong one.  I'd guess left of center overall, but I'm extremely suspicious of how genuine anyone who switches parties is.
