Overrated joke candidate is a joke and overrated. News at 11.

Btw: Castro would be a terrible VP pick for Clinton. He comes across as inexperienced, arrogant and unlikeable. Kaine would be way better IMO.
Is that a concern troll I hear?

I like a man who knows when water is wet.

That being said, I don't know much about Julian. However, "inexperienced, arrogant, and unlikeable" described the last three Democrats to win the White House 18 months out of their elections.

I don't think so.  Castro IS overrated.  If he were Secretary of a more prestigious department than HUD, he'd be something of a more serious contender.  He may be a star someday, but he's not ready now.

I am very much open to a Latino on the ticket. It will be fun and he will be the first generation born after 1970 on the ticket.

He will go into the college towns and urban communities and drum up youth support.

He will be the nxt Bill Richardson; on the ticket, with being younger.

He and his brother are both overrated and I am really tired of hearing about them.

Let's be honest and admit that if they were John and Jim Carson, nobody would be paying attention to a word they said.

Picking a VP based solely on appealing to a certain demographic kind of like Palin and Ferraro is almost always a disaster, he doesn't get any votes that aren't already in the D column and he is a danger to get slaughtered in a vp debate

Don't let that get in the way of "muh latino vote." If Hillary wants a Hispanic running mate, Castro is not the way to go.

I agree he's overrated, but thinking Kaine is any better is foolish. Kaine is one of the worst potential picks for Democrats.

Not sure about this.  I do think Biden helped Obama with the Northern white working class in an important way.  Biden was probably worth 1-2% in PA and 1% in OH, which could have been a fairly big deal in 2012.

Why would you say that?  Making VA D+2 instead of EVEN is just about the most important thing a Dem VP could do for the top of the ticket, right?

And Kaine doesn't do that. He's about as effective of a running mate in that regard as John Edwards. While he doesn't have Edwards flaws, he's proven every time he's been put in a spotlight he's given a mediocre at best performance, whether it's debates, or being the Chairman of the DNC.

Arrogant is a weak criticism of politicians. You have to be pretty arrogant to think you're good enough to even be a Congressman, much less the real aspiration of most politicos (the Presidency).

Someone is auditioning for VP.

I cant wait to see him fall flat on his face in the debates. Given Hillary's advanced age and dementia, her VP pick will be the most relevant since Truman in 1944.

Women live 5 years longer than men on average.  Adjust for that and Hillary in 2016 is younger than Romney in 2012.  Also, good luck attacking a woman nominee on her age.

Which is why I keep suggesting Hilda Solis as an alternative ethnic VP candidate.  She has the qualifications -certainly more so than Julian Castro.  Perhaps the fact that she's a woman is why everyone here keeps ignoring her...
