Brought up in the previous Sudan thread.

I definately say yes. Rather than kissing up to the Saudi Royals the US should back the elimination of a terrorist-supporting, genocidal, Muslim regime.

Yes, there's really not much of a discussion to be had here.

The Sudanese government have repeatedly proven that they will only offer enough concessions to remain alive, and they cannot be trusted.  They are vermin, and an enemy of freedom.

We have been, for some time, albeit unofficially, under both Clinton and Bush. We should do more, however, and extend it to the Darfur rebels as well.

The biggest problem I heard is western oil companies don't like them for attacking their facilities. Of course they're going to attack the oil facilities, it's one of the Sudanese regime's primary sources of income, and if the oil companies leave, they lose lots of their funding. The oil companies shouldn't be doing business with such a horror show in the first place. But when the oil business whines, the US government complies.

Except of course for the blindingly obvious examples of US sanctions on Iraq, Iran, and Libya.
