Well I had a really great idea for this a while back, but nobody seemed enthusiastic about it...we have a calendar link at the top of the page, everyone's birthday is listed in it...if we could get Dave to put election dates in there it would be perfect.  Gustaf?

I remember proposing an E-mail system for this for organizational and notification purpose such as upcoming deadline. I hope I will get the chance to atleast push this bill into the senate house. Smiley

The Consitution doesn't include specific dates for each election, the census, the registration deadlines, etc.    (It only says "last weekend of June", "every ten months", etc)
It would be very useful to have these dates for easy reference.

There should be easy access references for those who don't want to participate too deeply and want to vote.

That's reasonably clear, but then people have to count back for registration and filing deadlines; its confusing which Senate seats are up when, and it's totally unclear when and how long the census is.

It would be much easier for most people to have the actual dates written down in one place.  The date of the 2004 presidential election can be inferred from reading the US Constitution, but if someone one asks me when the election is, I don't tell them to look at the Constitution.

Also I'd like to point out there are no dates for when other elections other the Senate and Presidential races will take place(such as Govenor)

The Gubernatorial election dates are not in the Constitution because they are supposed to be decided by the regions themselves.  I'm not really sure how this is supposed to happen.

Okay I think you are missing the point I don't see any exact dates at all in the constitution "The regions will decide" isn't exactly clearly indicating any time of the year when elections will take place...

Anyway why not atleast have a calendar like the one I'm proposing with election dates, voter registration deadlines, seats and governorships up for election, and the deadline for announcing your candidacy the only thing we risk is that people will know whats going on.

I have no problem with a calender
and a region should decide for itself (some states have governor's elections every 2 years right ?) - akk I said that it is written that a presidential and mudterm elections will take place in the last weekend (every second month) and people did not knew it coz they did not read the constitution
