What if FDR would be the 2016 Dem nominee with Hillary as his running mate?

I'm sure this ticket would blast away every Republican, especially if someone like Cruz or another Tea Party sympathizer is the GOP candidate.

Maps are appreciated.

As with most of these hypotheticals, a candidate of that time period would get destroyed today based on the changing mores.

FDR in particular would have to defend his executive orders imprisoning an entire ethnic group.

As Walker Republican observed, internment would obviously cause a stir with progressives. Besides that, there are too many factors.

That depends much on the GOP nominee. However, I'm sure FDR would beat all of the modern GOP contenders (even Hillary in a primary).

Best scenario, with Jeb Bush as challenger:

Franklin D. Roosevelt/Hillary Clinton: 347 EV. (53.2%)
Jeb Bush/Scott Walker: 191 EV. (46.0%)

Worst scenario for the GOP with a Tea-Party Ticket (however, a Cruz-Bachman tickt is very unlikely; but FDR would certainly blow Cruz away):

Franklin D. Roosevelt/Hillary Clinton: 483 EV. (59.0%)
Ted Cruz/Michele Bachman: 55 EV. (39.0%)

Correct, he takes the current Democratic coalition on top of the one that existed in his time. Maybe he wins every state except Alaska since it hadn't been admitted to the union yet.

yeah even those two. but only by a less than 5% margin.

just kidding

I doubt he would win all 50 including deep red states like Utah. Probably some southern states like Georgia or Arkansas.
