Any chance at a primary challenge to inept Gov. Bob Riley?  Politics1 has former Chief Justice Roy Moore (who wouldn't be any better) and Real-Estate Developer/2002 Candidate/Son of Former Gov. Fob James, Tim James listed as candidates.  I don't know anything about James.  Would he have a shot?

There's a good chance that Roy Moore will either run in a primary against Riley or as an Independent in November. Chances are the Democrats regain the "seat" though; Baxley is pretty popular, especially in the hill country.

What's Baxley like?  He must be fairly conservative to be popular in Alabama.

Lucy Baxley is the Lt Governer of Alabama; she's fairly socially conservative (not by Alabama standards though) but the main reason why she's popular has more to do with something bordering on a personality cult (especially in rural areas) than anything else (the usual rags to riches stuff).
She was the State Treasurer until 2002, when was elected Lt Governer, mainly due to her support in rural areas.
Currently her approval ratings are something like 70%
