In every election we see celebrities endorsing Democrats and celebrities endorsing Republicans. Do they have impact on common people's votes?

Are there voters who would stay at home but decided to vote Democratic because George Clooney and Matt Damon endorsed the candidate? Are there voters who would stay at home but decided to vote Republican because Clint Eastwood and Lindsay Lohan endorsed the candidate?

Endorsements in general tend to be more reflections of where popular opinion already is than things that actually influence popular opinion.

They don't change minds; their opinions just fill the nearest mental vacuum.

Perhaps. A celebrity who rails against a Republican may sway a soft young Republican leaner to switch to Libertarian for example, thus helping the Democrat. In the past more so; in a more innocent age mothers were persuaded in 1964 by Dr. Benjamin Spock's endorsement of Johnson for example.
