And as a side issue, when do you think he'll announce his decision?

As much as I'd like for him to run, I don't think he will.  I think he just doesn't want to run a national campaign, and that will be the decisive factor.

No idea when he'll announce his decision, though.

He'll probably run as a Democrat.

If he has the courage to run as an Independent, I would certainly vote for him, but obviously he'd have a long, tough road ahead of him.

He might be able to carry Vermont or place second there, though.

I also believe Bernie Sanders will become a baby squirrel and sleep on peoples' hands.

He's not stupid enough to run as an independent and hand the election to the Republicans.

Bernie Sanders is already basically a baby squirrel for all intents and purposes.

I had thought that he was likely to run as a Dem but his recent comments about how he would need $300M to run and would have to be able to take on the Kochs sounds more like he has been contemplating an indie run. But even so, the fact that he realizes that would be futile and he wouldn't even get onto a debate stage that way would probably send him back to running as a Dem.

BTW, I wonder if Hillary would be able to get any traction out of him registering as a Dem only to run as one.

I think as an independent, if he runs at all, we will see.

I hope he runs as an independent; I'd strongly consider supporting him.

By this time, he probably wouldn't be able to get on the presidential ballot in half the states if he tried to run as an independent.

The odds of him running as an Independent are about the same as O'Malley winning the nomination.

Run as Democrat in primaries, shift Hillary to the left, and disappoint the Naderniks by endorsing Hillary.

So roughly 75%?

Bernie Sanders is a pragmatic person.  He may run in the primary race to get his ideas out there, but he won't attack Hillary and will eventually endorse her.

0% chance that he runs as an independent, completely out of the question.  That's right wing wishful thinking.

LOL, you don't shift Hillary to the left. During the 2008 campaign, she decided to go even more hawkish with her vote for Kyl-Lieberman.

a run as an Ind in the general would result in retribution by the Dem Senate leadership.  he'd be ripped off of every committee.
