And no for this  write-ins won't be counted as official votes Tongue

Yes, but write-in candidates should not be allowed to mention their candidacies on the actual voting thread.  So they won't appear anywhere on the "ballot".

I think it is already a general principle for no one to advertise vote for me! in the voting booth thread that excludes signatures of course.

Either way, that might count as campaigning which is against the rule.

They would post in the voting thread.

Example:

The first post of the thread would have the names of the candidates.

Yada vs Blah

Then if you want to vote for a write in:

reply

Write-in: Duh

thanks for pointing out my mistake. Smiley

NickG was I think stating that the write-ins cannot campaign within the thread not that they can't vote or anyone else who wants to vote a write in.

I thought he might be proposing write-in votes be done by e-mail or something.

Why anyone would not want to allow write-ins is beyond me.

It would be interesting to do it my email, but I meant they shouldn't campaign in the vote thread.  I guess no one is supposed to campaign in the vote thread, but I mean it should contain ONLY votes.  The write-in candidate couldn't post "BTW, I'm running too as a write-in"  or something like that.

Of course, he could post that in another thread.

problem with e-mails is, who would the e-mails be sent to as the person would no doubt be said to be tweaking the votes by the losing party.

I say we keep it all in threads and just have them put WRITE IN: next to their vote.

No one should post anything in the vote thread besides their vote.  If a person wants to signal that they are running as a write in candidate, they can do it by voting for themselves (and specifying WRITE IN).  They can also make this clear in other threads.
