I reserve the right to be wrong if Al's project finds otherwise. Wink

My guess for NM would be Los Alamos County. There's really not a ton of libertarians in NM...

There really aren't any libertarian counties here.  I would guess the most libertarian is Essex County, north of Boston

Centre... though it does contain a slight tinge of social conservatism.

"Slight"??

I suppose the large college population is the only thing that makes it libertarian.

N.C. doesn't really have any libertarian counties...the closest would be Mecklenburg or Wake.

Polk county was the only one that got as high as 1% for the Libertarians in the last Presidential elelction in NC. But 1% in Polk county was only 94 votes. So I've got to agree; NC doesn't really have any strong Libertarian counties. I actually though they would have done better in the North West Mountain area, I saw a ton of signs up for them there last fall on several different hiking trips I made.

I thought we were talking about small 'l' libertarian, not the most LP friendly county.

Arkansas dosen't get very libertarian.  Maybe the most libertarian is Sebastain County (Forth Smith), which is sort of libertarian conservative.

You're right -- I think there is a huge difference between libertarianism the ideology, and the Libertarian party.  The Party is just a bunch of goofy extremist nuts who don't know anything about politics and don't care about humanity.

I thought we were talking about small 'l' libertarian, not the most LP friendly county.

I'm going to go with Knox for this given that they have Mayor Kane, gave Jorgensen the highest vote share of any large TN county, and have a large college population.

Skamania County for "classic" libertarian, Ferry County for right-wing survivalist/militia-type libertarian.

I think Putnam county may be it for Indiana. It was Rainwater’s best county in 2020. Heritage Lake is a center of “leave me the hell alone” conservatism with middle to upper middle class conservative people who are more open minded in social issues.

I second Putnam. Also, why would you revive a 16 year old thread?
