This is a statute which needs to go. Drug screening tests are known to cost more than they save and denying benefits doesn't get anybody out of poverty so we should look for other solutions.

This is what I am attempting to repeal.

I support this repeal.
If nothing else, it's pretty useless since hardly any drugs are illegal in Atlasia anyway. I think the only substances that are illegal in Atlasia are things that aren't "cool" Tongue

I strongly support this repeal.  The screenings need to go.

No concerns have been raised over the past couple of days of debate so I will call a vote. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain.

I may be alone on this but I have to say.

Nay

Yes we may have legalized a lot of drugs but not having some regulations with regards to who recieves welfare is kinda silly. There is a serious correlation between drug use and being a welfare recipient. Maybe we should reexamine the legality of the harder drugs that have been legalized since my time in this game.

This has enough votes to pass, so long as nobody changes their vote. I'll leave this up until tomorrow for the one member who has yet to vote.

Hatman: ZuWo passed in 2012, back when the region was under the heel of a conservative hegemony. Same with all the abortion restrictions.

This region prospered and was more free than the left leaning regions.

Give Labor a chance, we and our allies haven't held the assembly and governorship for at least a dozen election cycles.
And be thankful that you're getting a divided government in practice instead of the progressive government voters chose.

Gentleman, the assembly floor is not a place for this kind of bickering. If you wish to debate policy go ahead, but if you wish to create a discourse there are other places to do so.
JCL, please feel free to submit laws/repeals you think would be good for this region, I encourage it, then debate why. The Mideast elected each of you to do your jobs by doing what you think is best for this region. I've served in your position before.
Mr. Speaker, I ask that you do not incite this behavior either, while you didn't start it, you are allowing this chamber to be a group of rabble-rousers rather than policy-makers. I have deep respect for both of you, but please let's keep this civil and nip this in the bud before we have people resigning and even leaving the game.

^ The Acting Governor is right. I should not have continued the exchange.

I am ending the vote. The bill has passed 3-1, with one member not voting.
