I guess OC will be in third, which would truly mean that an era has ended. I wonder when was the last time when BRTD, Al, and Lewis wasn't on the top three.

I guess OC will be in third, which would truly mean that an era has ended. I wonder when was the last time when BRTD, Al, and Lewis wasn't on the top three.

We can’t know exactly, since I think archive.org no longer tracks the forum.  However, according to this:

https://talkelections.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=207491.msg4499347#msg4499347

in January 2008, the top 10 was:

1) BRTD
2) Gabu
3) Lewis
4) Al
5) A18
6) opebo
7) StatesRights
8 ) Boss Tweed
9) Keystone Phil
10) Jfern

And Gabu left and never came back very shortly after that.  Gabu came close to 30,000 posts, so maybe just looking at when Al and Lewis reached 30,000 posts would get us close enough.  (I’m just rounding up to 30,000, since all three posters will have had some posts deleted by now, so it’s just a rough guess.)

Looks like in Al’s case, that’s May 2008, and in Lewis’s case it’s August 2008.  So conceivably, the trinity of BRTD, Al, and Lewis have been the top 3 since roughly August 2008.  (With Al and Lewis having swapped the #2 and #3 slots a few times during that period.)

I imagine the day OC passes Tender will be mourned by rookie posters from Vienna to Salzburg.

Interestingly, whenever it looks as if a poster might overhaul me they end up getting banned or otherwise leaving the forum.

Well, looks like olawakandi is predicting that his posting rate will slow way down in January:

I am free more often because I am not in school, I have to take my First Yr Law Exam next Oct that's why it appears I have more time but won't come next Jan.

So while I don't expect him to leave completely, I guess it's possible that he'll slow down enough to never pass you.  Depends in part on whether law school will keep him busy, and whether he'll go on to have a successful law career that keeps him too busy to post on the forum.

Going to law school with OC certainly would be.

Tim Turner is now in the "posting at a rate of over 1000 posts a month" crowd.  If he were to actually keep that up indefinitely, then I'd bet on him to be the next new person to enter the top 10 all time list, though he wouldn't get there for another 2.5 years or so, since he has a lot of ground to make up.  That's a long time to post at such a high rate though, so I wouldn't bet on it happening.

Progressive Pessimist might actually get into the top 10 before I do, though it would depend on how much he posts in the Congressional Board and 2024 presidential boards going ahead, probably. We're both posters from the 2015 class with particular interest in certain boards (in his case, the polling boards; in my case, PG&D and FC).

olawakandi has passed Tender for 4th place.  He's probably just a few days away from ousting Lewis from the #3 spot:

1) BRTD 97,217
2) Al 64,292
3) Lewis 58,228
4) olawakandi 58,118
5) Tender 58,107

Oh god I'd pay serious money to watch OC become #3 all time in terms of post count.

olawakandi has just surpassed Lewis Trondheim and entered the top 3 most posting posters! This is amazing considering he was not even in the top 10 less than ten months ago. Iconic moment for sure.

Here's the new top 10:

1) BRTD 97,231
2) Al 64,298
3) olawakandi 58,232
4) Lewis 58,228
5) Tender 58,107
6) Kal 57,447
7) Antonio 53,923
8 ) Phil 52,638
9) North Carolina Yankee 50,858
10) jfern 50,325

As noted previously, Lewis has consistently been in the top 3 from 2008 to today...though I believe during some parts of that era, he was in 2nd while Al was in 3rd, and they swapped back and forth a few times before Al eventually took the #2 spot for good.  So yeah, it's been over 13 years since anyone other than BRTD, Al, and Lewis were in the top 3.

Next question is when will olawakandi take the #2 spot from Al.  olawakandi says that law school obligations will result in his posting rate slowing down in January, but it's anyone's guess as to whether it slows down by enough to seriously delay the date at which he catches up to Al.

All dates are from this year (2021):
Jan. 29: olawakandi hits the #10 spot
Mar. 26: olawakandi hits the #9 spot
Mar. 28: olawakandi hits the #8 spot
Jun. 21: olawakandi hits the #7 spot
Jul. 14: olawakandi hits the #6 spot
Oct. 29: olawakandi hits the #5 spot
Nov. 13: olawakandi hits the #4 spot
Nov. 15: olawakandi hits the #3 spot

2022 and beyond:
Huh:  olawakandi hits the #2 spot
Huh:  olawakandi hits the #1 spot

The last one will take an awfully long time, since BRTD has a pretty big lead.

Follow up on this:
In a scenario where olawakandi doesn't slow down in January at all, then, if he and Al maintained their current posting rates indefinitely, then the former would pass the latter on the leaderboard in about 5 months or so....which is pretty much right at the same time that BRTD will likely reach 100,000 posts.
