Presidential elections winners South 7 Northeast 5 Midwest 3 West 2
Presidential candidates of the two major parties South 10 Midwest 10 Northeast 9 West 5
Presidential and VP candidates of the two major parties South 20 Northeast 20 Midwest 17 West 11
* Maryland and Delaware were considered Northeast, not South ** Nixon's home state was California in 1952, 1956, 1960 and New York in 1968, 1972
I observed: Few candidates from the West Many losing candidates from the Midwest
