Wins in a mid-western turquoise state in a wave year. Loses semi-sorta-narrowly in a presidential year. Is this a fair prediction to make? Only difference I can think of is that it is very possible that Wisconsin will flip in 2016.

That's a likely result. Its Wisconsin, so he has a better chance, but he has less appeal than Abraham.

I remember Abraham being attacked from the right over his immigration policy being a factor of his loss. So no, I don't think Ron Johnson becomes Spencer Abraham. There is a good chance Johnson loses though.

Abraham didn't lose because of right wing dissatisfaction. It was a good year for Dems in the Senate and the overall environment combined with Michigan's natural lean combined with Abraham having zero crossover appeal did him in. I think Abraham had a sizable lead with high undecideds until October when Stabenow caught up.

I assume Johnson has some charisma, and he's better looking than Abraham.

I recall hearing somewhere that Spencer Abraham used to hide from his own legislative staff.
