Chances are if the main thing you're proud of is your race, something you had zero control over, then you probably don't have much else in your life to be proud of.

That's why there's no way to move forward in most political conversations today. We can't even agree on what's objectively happening.

It's OK to make fun of religions because unlike race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. it's a self-chosen characteristic. It's like making fun of political parties.

And if you think making fun of Judaism and Islam is off limits go watch Family Guy.

I’m not saying it’s inherently bad to make fun of another religion, but the double standard is obvious. People are much more likely to get away with making fun of Mormonism than the others I stated.

And if I said some things from Family Guy in real life, even as a joke, I’d be ridiculed.

According to Eharding's political quiz, I am the most right-wing member of Atlas.

only if your definition of being a right-winger is someone who is a troll

I mean it seems like a big part of the GOP defines it that way

At least Pelosi didn't stand on her dead friends to become one of the most powerful women in the country.

Also, how is this sociopath still relevant?

I don’t see why one would want Sanchez and ReaganFan banned. They’re representative of at least 45% of the country. What, do you go about your daily lives pretending Republicans don’t exist?

The idea of Obama being the most partisan when he bent over backwards to get Republican support for the stimulus and Heritagecare/Gingrichcare/Dolecare/Romneycare is hilarious.

tilt d —-> lean r, these types of things tend to be extremely damaging.
You had CA-39 at tilt D. At the least it should have been tossup. I already had it at Lean R.
I mean, cisneros is literally up 11

What a great post chain. First we have a user overreacting as usual, then we have a hack who insists they'll win based off nothing more than their own bias, followed by a Democrat who puts stock in an internal poll from the Democrat's own campaign. Truly an Atlas microcosm here.

Yeah atlas is nothing like real life lmao haha. Anways, straight like nearly everyone else in the real world.
You'd be surprised...

Nah he’s right. Atlas is far from real life.

The forum is overrepresented in terms of young people, males, socialists/tankies, moderate hero republicans, lgbt, white people (the forum is 75%+ white which is especially white for a forum that skews young), etc. Literally nothing should be used from atlas to extrapolate to your average American.

I was reading back some old threads and had to laugh at this.

By which I don't mean trolling (which can be funny) but, to name one example, responding to a poll simply with "FF" and no extra detail.
I think a good way to solve this without a more harsh moderating approach would be changing the software to set a minimum number of characters (~5?) that a post can contain.
FF!!!

You are a piece of work. Trump spews all kinds of sh**t about all kinds of people, and Hillary makes ONE statement that disparages some of Trump supporters, and you reply with all this garbage.

You have earned the right to be ignored.

You could probably find Seriously? in the basket of deplorables. A case study on him and the idea of double standards would be pretty fantastic if you ask me. His ability to completely ignore Trump's own issues while screaming at the top of his lungs about Clinton's is remarkable. It doesn't even matter if they do the same thing - it's awful/corrupt/etc when Clinton does it, and completely fine / didn't even happen if Trump does it. Barely any proof required if it's a 'scandal' involving Clinton, but if the same scandal involves Trump, the highest burden of proof is required. Every detail must be confirmed and presented.

He's either a disturbingly-dedicated troll or hypocritical as hell, and I can't help but wonder how this kind of behavior translates into other aspects of his life.

I think you nailed his butt to a T.
As always, those from the party of "tolerance" think they are better than those that dare to be different and not vote for their guy.

Your level of Alinsky-like ridicule will do nothing to change my mind or shut up.

Is this like some tribal defense of a fellow conservative in need, or something else? Seriously? fit my description to a T. He had a justification, rationalization or some other excuse to disbelieve everything bad about Trump but yet when it came to Clinton, everything "stunk" to high heaven. In other words, like I said, highest burden of proof for his guy, lowest burden of proof for the opposition. This isn't exactly new or uncommon behavior for partisans either. The only difference is he, as many of them do, didn't see himself that way, because that would basically be admitting that he is extremely biased.

I don't care if Seriously? voted for Clinton or not. I was merely pointing out that he was drowning in double standards. Again, not exactly something new for a partisan, and I'm not surprised he wrote what he did (also, what does tolerance even have to do with that? am I supposed to tolerate partisan double standards for a poster who engages in political discussion?)

(didn't really want to drag up 2016 discussions again but I couldn't resist on this one)

After a rash of personal attacks from some of our fine, liberal-minded refugees from The Enlightenment, I took a trip down memory lane to see what's been historically tolerated.

Well, you are choosing to destroy the lives of your own children.

Why was this guy not permabanned?

This is my reposting in one of your "Greatest Hits " threads in this forum.  But why wasn't this guy banned?  I read in one of the posts in that particular thread that this guy, "ag" was a MOD?!?!?!?  I mean, wowsers, this guy threatens my family in a post and nothing is done.  This guy came back a while ago for a bit and got a hero's welcome, but after THIS?  This is a bit more than calling me a name.  It's a little more than telling me to F--- Off.  Indeed, it's a little more than calling me a racial or ethnic slur.

I'm not going anywhere.

And I've not violated any Forum Rules or conditions of the ToS.

I have decided, however, that I'm going to call people out, constantly, whenever they decide to go full-bore ProudModerate2 or worse on me.  And he's not the worst by any means; he's a one trick pony.  There are others that are even worse, but I note that no one has ever said anything to his over-the-top insults.  Perhaps the lad suffers from a mere lack of discipline.

I'm not going to be called the scum of the Earth and not point out that people who consider themselves tolerant are doing it.  I'm not backing down.  I'm not going anywhere.  And I'm going to call them, and exhort like-minded people who are grown-ups, play by rules, and have at least a modicum of intellectual honesty about themselves to do the same.  Are rules ant ToS for everyone here?  I don't want this, or anyplace else, to be Animal Farm, where all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

These NY-24 and CA-50 polls are pretty disappointing. Obvious the Dems don't need to win these seats for a majority, and if either falls they are looking at a 50-60 seat gain nationally.  But the margins should be closer in a D+7 or D+8 national environment.  I can see the argument for why Katko might fade a bit, but not Hunter.

Wow, it's almost like the democrats winning the house is not a locked guarantee or something, huh....
I dont think 2 polls, one in a solid R district with a scandalized incumbent, and the other in a popular incumbent's seat justify such a reaction. We have the house at an 80% chance at this moment, and its only going to improve from there, bar Trump starting a war and everyone forgetting the wave, or some other unpredictable event.

There were three that I saw on here today I'm talking about. I'm telling ya man, the GOP gerrymandered the sh!t outta the house, it's not an easy lock, for instance we all know there should be two dem seats outta St Louis area MO. Look, I agree with you, we don't need to win these seats at all to win the house, but the margins would have to be a little tighter here for me to be confident. I mean Wagner and Katko leading by mid to highish single digits would not phase me, but not double digits. I also wish the race in Hunter's district was a bit tighter. Margins matter folks.
The problem is that you are taking singular polls and drawing a large conclusion(then again, that is a problem about Atlas, and not just you). For instance, in Katko's case, he was losing by 4 points in an earlier poll by PPP. And for MO, its not really a seat we need, but it can still be won, the pollster who did it is not the best. We already have the seats we need to win in our column, and its becoming harder and harder to see us lose. We are tieing or beating all of the CA vulnerable, beating the NJs, and pulling crazy margins in PA. Thats most of the seats we need right there, and then we can pick off some easy ones, like FL, and some tossup seats, like ME and IL. The margin of the house is worrying, but it should trend heavily in our favour as time goes on. Its not even labour day yet.
