I'll say it- not again.

On top of that, there goes the untarnished AirAsia brand that MH was rumoured to be interested in covering itself under. But, yes, hopefully everything is all right.

A passenger plane from a Malaysian based company goes missing? How original.

Probably a weather related issue.

Are the communication systems of a plane something that could be hacked?

Terrible news. Hoping the plane is found intact.

Looks like it was going through a patch of horrendous weather. Plus some preliminary data suggests it was climbing and not going very fast.

It's still early. I expect they will find something soon enough. Still, what a bad year this has been for Malaysian aviation.

Sad but also boring. The American media becomes obsessed with the dullest things.

This one I'm perplexed by. I hardly expected this to be controversial.

My comment makes the assumption that this will get a similar level of coverage as the previous lost Malaysian flight.

Do you people think the amount of coverage that previous flight got was appropriate?

What makes this story important or relevant to people outside Malaysia or whatever country most of the passengers are from? Not a whole lot.

I mean, give it 2 minutes like you would give any plane crash. "A plane has crashed over Malaysia. 155 presumed dead. Cause unknown at this time" and then move on to other things.

I can only guess that people are just piling on me regardless of what I say.

I will say CNN's insistence on saying "Malaysia" as soon as they possibly can when reporting this and their non-stop coverage smacks of desperation in trying to boost their sinking ratings. I imagine Willips would find the BBC's coverage far more to his liking- a succinct bulletin, and then on the to the next story, and not semi-gleeful braying on "MALAYSIAN PLANE CRASHES YET AGAIN!!!11", brain-numbing repetition, and low-value-added panels of experts of dubious relevance or credentials. Now that is annoying.

More and more suggestions that this is an AirFrance redux. Bad storms, a steep climb, instruments being confused by ice and .... yeah.

And Wilips  - do you ever just think things?

Yep, it's been confirmed to have crashed. Debris has been found as have dead bodies and they believe they know where the wreckage is
