I do think Davis' wheelchair ad, while distasteful, had a point. I don't think the guy has a single upstanding bone in his body.

Meh, I don't care for him much, but he's lightyears better than Wendy Davis.  Honestly, I was more happy to see her lose than to see him win.

Too neo-con, but better than the vapid blonde he beat.
I though he was a Tea Party hack.  If this is accurate, then FF.

In order:

Tom Wolf (D-PA): 76.9% Approval
Bill Walker (I-AK): 75.9% Approval
Charlie Baker (R-MA): 66.7% Approval
David Ige (D-HI): 61.5% Appoval
Larry Hogan (R-MD): 52.0% Approval
Gina Raimondo (D-RI): 51.1% Approval
Bruce Rauner (R-IL): 39.6% Approval
Pete Ricketts (R-NE): 35.0% Approval
Asa Hutchinson (R-AR): 34.2% Approval
Doug Ducey (R-AZ): 28.6% Approval
Greg Abbott (R-TX): 18.9% Approval

Average: 49.1% Approval of incoming Governors

I plan on doing this a year or two later to compare.

Democrats all year thought this race was a tossup when polls indicated the opposite and when it finally happened it blew their bubble, and lots of austinites went into a bubble of rage that night on tumblr.

What Democrats thought the race was a toss up? Certainly none on here did.

Liberal blogs+forums thought the race was a tossup. Reality started to sink in within the last few weeks for many that Wendy Davis wasn't going to win, but for many of those who were still stuck in the bubble that "Wendy Davis will turn texas blue!!!!(with the latino vote!!!)" the outrage was delicious.

Hmm...let's see what a Democrat born and raised in Texas thought of this election before it happened.

Setting the over-under at Abbott 56%, Davis 43%.  Does Davis do better or worse than this?  Discuss.

Actual results: Abbott 59%, Davis 39%. I guess I was overoptimistic, but then again it was a massively Republican year to an extent that no one was predicting in March.
