same as before, except this time it's him against the losers. Here's how I'd vote (I bet this won't suprise anyone Smiley ):

1900 Bryan
1904 Parker
1908 Bryan
1912 If Roosevelt counts, him, otherwise Taft
1916 Hughes
1920 Cox
1924 Preferably LaFollete, but Davis if he's not a choice
1928 Smith
1932 Hoover
1936 Landon
1940 Willkie
1944/1948 Dewey
1952/1956 Stevenson
1960 Nixon
1964 Goldwater
1968 Humphrey
1972 McGovern
1976 Ford
1980 Carter
1984 Mondale
1988 Dukakis
1992 Preferably Perot, but I'd take Bush's daddy over him if forced to choose
1996 Once again Perot if possible, otherwise Dole

anyone at all shocked? Smiley

I'd vote Bush on all of those except possibly 1904 and 1924.

1900 Bush
1904 Bush
1908 Bush
1912 Bush
1916 Bush
1920 Bush
1924 Bush
1928 Bush
1932 Bush
1936 Undecided
1940 Bush (though Willkie's a good guy for AH scenarioes)
1944/1948 Undecided
1952/1956 Bush
1960 Bush
1964 Goldwater
1968 Bush
1972 Bush
1976 Undecided
1980 Bush
1984 Bush
1988 Bush
1992 Undecided
1996 Undecided

There ya go, Bush is only beaten by Goldwater, and i'm undecided for him against Landon, Dewey, Ford, Bush I, and Dole.

Frankly, this is more of a measure of how rare truly good candidates are, especially on the losing side, then as to Bush himself.

Stevenson supported "civil rights" legislation to infringe on the rights of employers and businesses, or at least he certainly implied it in his TV ads.

Dewey infringed on the rights of employers as governor, but he did cut taxes, and reduce his state's debt.

I have serious doubts as to Dewey's leadership ability. He was also the kind of lukewarm, weak politician I dislike. His later work to secure the nomination for Eisenhower might have raised my opinion of him, but his opposition to Goldwater cancels that out.

Stevenson is basically the same. He would not have been a strong leader by any stretch of the imagination. Look at his disastrous 1956 campaign. He was completely out of it, and that would be disturbing if he was President.
