In 1992, Bush 41 lost Connecticut, though he won it in 1988.

Gerald Ford lost the 1976 Republican primary in Nebraska, his state of birth, to Ronald Reagan.  I imagine George McGovern lost his state of birth (I'm assuming it's South Dakota, but it doesn't much matter) in 1972.

I can't think of any other examples.
