It's not that Kirk isn't pretty mediocre. It's that he's the main hope of anti-corruption measurements in the state. I'd endorse Giannoulius over him, but all the other IL Democrats can't win a primary without some corruption.

There is no way he can survive if he is on Team Obstruction. Kirk likely only has a term left in him so at this point he cannot be taken out by a primary challenger. But if he helps McConnell, he is going to get obliterated in November, especially if Trump is on the ballot with him! Represent Illinois, or sign your own death warrant...

Yeah anybody inclined to care much about SCOTUS nominees probably understands Kirks position. It's hilarious to see democrats talking about the constisttution though it almost seems surreal.

They may understand Kirk's position, but still prefer a liberal replacement on the Supreme Court. I'm sure there are Democrats in Illinois who don't mind Kirk, but who would prefer a Democrat. That's why Kirk is in so much trouble.
