It really doesn't matter to me. One is a pork barreler who has seniority, the other won't, but would vote against a repeal of Obamacare.

As much as I like Childers, Cochran has been good for the state.

I guess I'd hold my nose and vote Cochran.

Cochran obviously. I probably would have voted for Childers over McDaniel though.

McDaniel (this race is still being contested, normal)

Childers is a socon and McDaniel has openly compared himself to Ted Cruz as a model for how he would carry himself in the senate. Another Ted Cruz is precisely the last thing the Republican Party needs right now. He'd do far more national damage than he'd help by filling a seat instead of a Democrat who is actually pretty palatable.

Also McDaniel's antics throughout show he is, at least in my opinion, unfit to hold elected office. This quixotic bid to throw out the votes of black people is beyond the pale. Sure the election laws did not benefit him, but he had plenty of time to try and change the laws while he was in the state legislature if he sincerely thought them unfair. But he didn't because he doesn't give a crap about the sincerity of the election laws, he only cares about himself and hearing himself speak longer. McDaniel (and Cruz as well) are some of the worst. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if either is actually a liberal Democrat trying to caricature the worst possible image of conservatives they can think of to disgrace the Republican Party.

Childers is the lesser of 2 evils, so him, I guess.

No matter how much he used to say how independent and anti-Pelosi he was, Childers did vote with Democratic leadership 83% of the time including a vote for Pelosi for Speaker and would do the same for Reid. He also voted for the stimulus, opposes social security privatization, and doesn't want to repeal Obamacare completely, so that partially negates his sociocon record, but both are terrible.

Childers (D), as I support having a Democratic Majority in the Senate.

If I thought Cochran would serve a whole term, he'd have my support.

But I doubt it, so I'll be voting Childers. That is of course subject to change if Childers starts campaigning for an Obamacare repeal or something, but I doubt he'll do that.

Childers is 50 points more liberal by ACU score. There isn't a single issue where Cochran is to Childers' left.

State law doesn't allow voters to participate in runoffs for a party different from the one they voted in during the initial primary.  Now mind you, I think McDaniel is just being a sore loser, and I doubt many blacks voted in either primary to begin with, but he may have a case.

You support privatizing social security?  That's ... weird, but even so, Childers is certainly closer to you politically, even with your oddball pet issues getting extra weight.

The only left-of-centers who have any reason to not be 100% behind Childers are the ones who live in Mississippi.

I'm sure Alan Keyes is still contesting the 2004 Illinois Senate race as well.
