FF for sure but "favorite poet" is very much not a statement I'll agree with.

I'm partial to T.S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams, and Elizabeth Bishop FWIW.

I like her so much because my favorite bands' lyrical styles are very quite similar to her poetry. Especially any band Guy Picciotto was ever in or Rainer Maria (the band, named after Rainer Maria Rilke, but not all that similar to him otherwise.) A lot of her poems honestly read like something someone would write on a LiveJournal entry circa turn of the millenium.

Challenge: Which of these is a Plath poem and which is an emo song?

Um that's not much of a challenge at all.  The first one demonstrates a solid grasp of the English language, its vocabulary and imagery, the sonorances and associations you can evoke by putting certain words near other words, and all that jazz which adds up to "poetry".

The other is, like, something 20RP12 would write.

C'mon.

I mean, seriously, do you really think people will confuse your pet emoviolencers for someone who is able to use words and phrases such as "snake-figured almanac" and "magnanimous"?  You think we're really gonna have a hard time telling the difference?

Well you picked right, but that is most certainly not 20RP12-esque. Worth noting the majority of the lyrics are in a spoken word section, and it's definitely intended to be a poem of sorts. Why I resent the comparison made above is that the band also made what's largely considered in "the scene" to be one of the most beautiful songs of all time.

Also while the band in question is most certainly NOT emo in any way, shape or form, let me note this: http://www.quibblo.com/quiz/i6VCa4J/Fall-Out-Boy-or-Sylvia-Plath

I'm genuinely torn, so I've decided to not vote.

Her work is very good, but I can't bring myself to call anyone who's committed suicide a "FF".

Voted HP by mistake, but I wanted to vote FF. I have only read a few of her poems and they didn't really stand out as memorable to me.

FF but not one of my favorites, although I do like 'Lady Lazarus' quite a lot.

'Snake-figured almanac' reminds me of something one might read in a Bishop poem. (EDIT: I'm thinking of 'Sestina'.)

My favorite poet. We read some of her work my senior year of high school and it stuck with me. I have a few of her books.
