Tagged the wrong person on Facebook

OK might as well pose the question here, since I'm sure there are lot of computer whizzes on this site.

I tried to tag my partner in a FB photo but then tagged the wrong person.  But while there is supposedly an "edit" or "untag" option that is super-easy and accessible I can't find it.  Oddly enough the tagged photo doesn't show up on my partner's page at all. (

I get the choices of Tag Photo, Options, Share and Send below the photo. Nothing works and Wikihow, Yahoo etc. and Facebook's Help Center lead nowhere.

you have to click tag photo first to edit existing tags

if your partner/the other person requires tags of themselves to be approved then theirs won't show up until they log into facebook and do so

Weird.  This makes no sense at all.  My spouse removed the tag.

How come you can't remove a mistake yourself and you need the other person's approval?  Seems strange that you can tag someone else but only that person can remove the tag.
