First royal decrees:

- Lord Greatjon Umber in hereby appointed Hand of the King.

- Any act of cruelty, torture, or needless destruction against civilians in conquered lands - including rape - shall be punished by flogging, and by decapitation if reiterated. Crops and other products necessary to the feeding of soldiers and horses may however be seized if necessary.

- The following proclaim shall be dispatched to every fief or stronghold that has not joined us yet:

"Lords of the Seven Kingdoms,

Let it be known that my intentions are peaceful. I did not start this war. The Lannisters started it, the day they murdered my father, Lord Eddard Stark, in their sinister conspiracy to grab the Crown of the Seven Kingdoms for themselves. So-called King Joffrey, the bastard offspring of an incestuous union between Queen Cersei and her brother Jaime Lannister, had him executed in the vain attempt to protect his dark secret. He and the people who helped him seize the Iron Throne shall answer for their crimes, and it is the duty of every loyal subject to join our quest to rid the world of this monstrous usurper.

But we Northmen shall also fight to free ourselves, once and for all, from the despotic yoke of the Iron Throne. Centuries ago, Torrhen Stark bent the knee to Aegon the Conqueror and his dragons, to preserve his kingdom from destruction. Today however, after the rulers of King's Landing have repeatedly proven themselves uncaring, if not hostile, to the North's interests, time has come for us to retake our freedom.

We are a simple people, with the blood of the First Men in our veins. We do not strive for power, riches, or glory. We seek nothing but liberty and justice. We do not draw our strength from swords or trade, but from the inextinguishable flame of honor. Join us, and together we shall usher in a lasting era of peace and prosperity for Westeros. Fight us, and you shall face the rigorous winds of the North. Beware, my Lords, because winter is coming for you.

-- Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, King in the North"

A raven sent to Robb Stark:

I will return your father's bones to you as a gesture of good faith. - Tyrion Lannister, Hand of the King.

"This kind gesture honors you. However, while my mother and I have long yearned to return Lord Stark's remains to Winterfell where they belong, we are even more anxious to see our beloved sisters and daughters again. As we ourselves hold several Lannisters captive, I believe we could, as two humane commanders, find an agreement for the best of all of us."

A raven sent to Robb Stark

I beesech you to send Mya Stone to Highgarden. -Renly of the House Baratheon, the First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm

"If this may help endear you to the cause of Northern independence, then so be it."

We would also be willing to trade Sansa Stark for my brother, Jaimie. Lord Stark, your father's execution would never have happened had I been in King's Landing. I know it sounds queer coming from a Lannister, but it's true. I know your mother believes me responsible for the attempt on your brother Bran's life as well, but that is a falsehood, ser. I quite liked the boy, speaking for myself. But now we find ourselves in a war. One with which I'm hopeful to try and end the bloodshed as quickly as possible.

"Lord Tyrion,

As much as Sansa and Arya's well-being is paramount to me and to my family, I cannot possibly consent to the release of your brother at this time in the war. A formidable warrior, Jaime Lannister is too great an asset to your faction to be left free to once again command an army. Defeating him once was far from easy, and, whereas he would have been executed were it not for his prestigious name, I cannot run the risk of facing him again on the battlefield. What would my men say, if they knew that, in exchange for my sisters, I let the Kingslayer free to kill their brothers in arms once again? You will doubtless agree that my sisters, if free, would pose no corresponding threat to your war effort.

I have no doubts about your sincerity, Lord Tyrion, for your brother recently admitted to the crimes that my mother, carried away by parental love, unjustly accused you of committing. He is the author of the attempt on Brandon's life that left him crippled, an act perpetrated within our walls while he was our guest in Winterfell. If you have any loved ones, you doubtless will understand that I must have Ser Jaime answer for his crimes. Letting him go unpunished would mean leaving the honor of the House Stark, and thereby of the entire Northern people. Once again, this case suffers no comparison to that of my innocent sisters.

I understand that your situation commands you to be intransigent, as does mine. However, I want to propose a deal which I hope you will deem fair to both of us. Return Sansa and Arya to riverrun, and I will release Alton, Willem and Martyn Lannister, our three hostages who also bear your House's name. If you consent to this agreement, I also pledge that Ser Jaime will suffer no harm, being well-treated and properly fed, until the war's end, and that, upon my victory, he will be given a fair trial according to the laws of the Seven Kingdoms. This, Lord Tyrion, is as far as I can possibly bring myself, as a King, a military commander, and a Stark. I hope that you have no doubt about the fairness of my intentions and the sincerity of my offer.

A raven to Lysa Arryn from Catelyn Stark, on behalf of Robb Stark

"Dear Sister,

In the name of the sacred family bonds that unite our destinies, I must beg you to reconsider your position in the upcoming war. I understand your wariness in involving the Vale in a fierce military conflict at a time when it would seem particularly vulnerable, but I am absolutely convinced that the interests of our respective Houses, Arryn and Stark (as well as those of the House Tully to which we descend) are inextricably intertwined. The Lannisters hate and distrust the Vale as much as the North. They murdered your husband, a honorable man who attempted to thwart their conspiracy. If they ever were to prevail over their current opponents and take a firm control of the Seven Kingdoms, they would doubtless attempt to eliminate the last remains of potential opposition to their absolute rule. By that point, you would have no allies left to defend your against the Lannisters' machinations. Please, my sister, you must understand that our interests are the same. We shall prevail together, lest the future of both our lineages be at high risk.

- Lady Catelyn Stark"

--- By order of King Joffrey I of the House Baratheon, Robert Arryn is hereby named Warden of the East.

Wait, isn't Robert already the Warden of the East by virtue of being the only male descendant of the House of Arryn? Huh

A proclaim

"I, Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, Lord of Winterfell and King in the North, hereby relieve the hostage Theon Greyjoy from his captivity. He is henceforth a free man. A ship shall be chartered to escort Lord Theon back to his native lands of Pyke, if he so desires."

A raven to Brandon Stark, Acting Lord of Winterfell

"My Brother,

I am well aware of the difficulties that you and my Northern homeland are presently enduring. Rest assured that I will not abandon you. I am doing anything in my power to end the needless bloodshed, and am hopeful that my efforts will soon be repaid. If necessary, part of our contingent is ready to intervene in defense of our native lands. At the same time, I hope that you will understand why my place is still here on the frontline, so far from home. Our victory is the only condition under which Winterfell and the whole North could recover their peace and serenity. You are understandably strained by the daunting task of managing the region's daily affairs, but you are a Stark, and as such I have no doubt about your ability to fulfill this task with dignity and wisdom. I shall soon return to Winterfell victorious, and the Starks, vindicated in their honor, will be reunited once again.

-- Robb"

Robb's speech to his armies

"Northerners! Is that who we are? Murderers, turning against our brothers in arms while the war rages? Is that all what's left of the honor and loyalty that made our country strong for the past eight thousand years? Under my command, Theon Greyjoy was bravely leading the assault on the Golden Tooth, the gate to the Westerlands, when he was murdered by his own men. Whatever crimes Balon may have committed against the North, the cowards who perpetrated this crime have brought shame on us all. Let it be known that this vile act will not go unpunished! As long as I be King, the North will stay true to its traditions, resolving conflicts through the laws and customs. Woe to us, if we allow our cause to be tarnished by treachery! Only honor shall lead us to victory!"

A raven to Balon Greyjoy

"Lord Balon,

Words cannot express my sorrow for your son's fate. Although he was brought to Winterfell as a prisoner, I had grown to see Theon as a brother, and trusted him so much as to give him command of an essential front in my campaign. I promise you that, as soon as the battle is over, my commanders will conduct thorough investigations to find the traitors who perpetrated this crimes, and they will be hanged. I hope that you will not fault the North in its entirety for the acts of a few degenerate men.

I will personally see that your son's remains are transferred to Pyke as soon as possible.

-- Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, King in the North"

A raven to Rickard Karstark

"Lord Rickard,

In the name of Northern laws and justice, it is imperative that the assassins of Theon Greyjoy be brought to justice as soon as the military situation will make it possible. Within similar delays, I demand that Lord Theon's corpse be brought back to Pyke where it belongs. I have no doubt that your strength and bravery will soon bring us victory.

A raven to Tyrion Lannister

Lord Tyrion,

I am still awaiting a response to my offer for a prisoners exchange. It seems to me that giving away three young Lannister men in exchange for two innocent girls may be considered a generous offer, especially since yours and your father's position in this war seem far from triumphant in these days. Being the reasonable man I have known you as, I have no doubt you will seize this opportunity.

OOC: I may be mistaken, but IIRC, Lumine never said you have Martyn Lannister as a hostage.  You might be thinking of the show where it is Willem and Martyn Lannister instead of Willem Lannister and Tion (?) Frey.

OCC: Yes, my reference was the show and I probably have misread Lumine's description... Shame. Sad Do I have Alton at least (the guy Jaime murdered in his attempt to escape, in the show)?

OOC:

OK, I don't want to be the crybaby of this game, but if Stannis and Renly form an alliance isn't the game basically over? With their combined armies + the Tyrells they can easily kick the ass of everyone else. The only solution would be a grand Stark-Lannister alliance, which is impossible for obvious reasons. Besides, it would be extremely bizarre for Renly to renounce his claim to the Crown, considering he has by far the biggest army. Why would he want to do that? Of course it's Lumine's game, and if this is fine to him then it's fine to me, but if you want my two cents I think allowing this would be a very bad decision for the sake of fun.

Lumine, these are just details, but is Daven in Sarsfield or in Lannisport right now? The military update and the armies tally seem to disagree in that regard. Also, Glover was leading a 900-men detachment before I called the additional men, so unless he's somehow suffered losses his army should be 3900 strong.

Finally, I have a problem. Last turn should involve the appearance of a character that is a massive spoiler for the books, but I don't wish to spoil that for those who have only watched the series. What do those who have only watched the series think? Should I include said character?

Personally I would very much want to avoid spoilers (especially since I'm even farther behind that you guys). But if it's really necessary to the game and not a critical plot point in the show, I can make a sacrifice...

A raven to Catelyn Stark (currently in Riverrun)

Mother! The news I have just received from your uncle in Harrenhal will no doubt fill your heart with joy, as it did mine. Our dear Arya is now safe under his guard! She was found when the troops entered the fortress, where she was held prisoner. Unaware of her name, Tywin's troops apparently mistook her for a lowborn orphaned boy. Brynden has not yet been able to inquire the details of her flight from King's Landing, but she must doubtless have displayed uncommon bravery and wit to escape for so long and go so far. She truly is a Stark.

I shall immediately have her escorted back to Riverrun, where you will be able to hold her in your arms once again. As impatient as I am to see her as well, the harsh necessities of warfare command me to delay this moment.  We also will soon liberate Sansa from King's Landing. Victory is near, and if we can seize our advantage, the Starks shall soon stand again, united and unbent.

-- Your son Robb

A raven to Balon Greyjoy

Lord Balon,

The North is grateful for your mercy toward our lands and your help in crushing the Lannister forces. Rest assured that we will always remember this gesture - and repay it when needed. May this common cause form the stepping stone to a lasting amity between the Starks and Greyjoys.

However, my scouts have reported that a small Ironborn contingent is still in control of Bear Island, where it holds hostage among our Mormont bannermen. If your good intents toward the North are authentic, you surely must surrender this land as well, as it has always been an integral part of the North's territory. I have no doubt that the Ironborn presence in that isle is merely an unfortunate delay and does not imply hostile intents toward us. I hope this minor issue will be swiftly resolved.

-- Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, King in the North

A Proclaim:

In reiteration of my previous edict, I must stress once again that no needless damage must be made to the enemy lands now under our control, and that Westerlander civilians must not suffer abuses from our troops. We encourage our allies from the Reach and the Iron Isle to do the same, for the sake of avoiding further wounds in this bitter war.

I, Robb of the House Stark, First of his Name, Lord of Winterfell and King in the North, welcome King Joffrey's recognition of our country's hard-fought independence. Surely the Lannisters must desperately crave for powerful allies to save them from impending doom. But they fool themselves if they believe Northmen will ever lift a finger to save the man who killed their beloved Lord Eddard Stark.

A raven to Tywin Lannister

My Lord,

I beg you to accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your son Jaime. As much as I may have despised him and sought to bring justice for his crimes against my brother, he was my hostage, and, as such, was under my protection. It seems rather evident that the assassin had an interest in harming both your cause and mine, but he shall soon learn what it costs to conspire against the North.

Although the vile Joffrey and his mother, who conspired against my father, have fully deserved their dire fate, I deeply regret that countless innocents have also died in the aftermath of the siege. This would never have happened under my command.

OOC: Now I have to figure out what to fight for beyond mere survival.  I have a large fighting force, but I mean really what more can I accomplish beyond killing Stannis to avenge Joffrey, Cersei, Jaime, and Tommon?  If Stannis and Renly die, then what? Tongue  Who am I saying is even King?  Joffrey dying instead of narrowly escaping certainly makes things infinitely harder Sad  Decisions, decisions...

OOC: Daenerys is probably laughing her ass off at the whole situation. Grin

So, basically, the Lannisters got served in more or less the same way the Starks were in "The Rains of Castamere". Just replace the four Stark kids with Tywin, Tyrion and Daven...
