Keep going right now, doing just enough to prevent unionization.

Move to androids over a period of say, 5 years, eliminating 1 million "crappy" jobs.

Hypthetical situation:

Wal-mart, in order to lower costs some more and to prevent a larger worker base from eventually unionizing, decides to replace all personnel with androids.  The androids are almost as good as humans when it comes to helping people, and much better when it comes to hard labor.

Advantage: No more paying people wages < $15 an hour.  No more "crappy" jobs.

Disadvantage: Almost all of the unskilled laborers will be fired.  That is almost 1 million jobs.  "Crappy" jobs as opebo would put it.

The decision comes in front of you.  What do you decide?  There is no option to unionize because it is will kill Walmart.  I'm mostly interest in (D) replies here, especially from those that hate Wal-mart.

Why doe sOpebo gotta bash the hard workers of Wal-Mart and tell them that their jobs are crappy?

I've worked retail before and it isn't crappy, it canbe fn.  Granted, I wouldn't want to make a career out of it but let's not insult other people's livelihoods.

The economy doesn't work so well if everyone is replaced with a robot. What has to happen is the state nationalizes the companies and pays everyone a living wage.

Richius, who am I deciding for here, WalMart?  I suppose if I were Walmart and I could do so I would replace my serfs with robots.

However I don't think this needs to be a concern for a liberal State or its citizens, as we can simply tax away Wal-Mart's profits in sufficient amounts to put those laid off workers on welfare - say at the equivalent of $10/hour.  A little loss of income, but on the bright side no work at all!
